A week for 3k I would suggest some where in Mexico. Jetsetter is always having me eye the Banyan Tree resorts, specifically the one in Mayakoba, Mexico. It is about 30 miles or so away from the nearest airport and they look like amazing villas.

have you considered renting a condo or beach house somewhere for your honeymoon??  a lot of them are not in the touristy hotel areas.

also, some resorts are not necessarily amongst other resorts.  it’s just that one so the beaches are more private and quiet.

we went to a resort last feb with my dad and went for a walk up the beach.  the resort next to us had absolutely no one on it.  bare.  it may have been the time of year or something but it looked so quiet.  we are going there on our minimoon in 2 weeks.  (we have been to this place before).

How about Belize or Costa Rica?

My husband and I are from the North shore of Oahu, and highly suggest it. There are a ton of vacation rentals and it’s much less busy than Waikiki. We went on our honeymoon to Maui and stayed in a time share there, but there are lots of cottages etc. available as well and we loved it there (though we’re still partial to Oahu.)

I would suggest Costa Rica or Anguilla, but I don’t know if you could do Anguilla for under $3K.  Costa Rica maybe.
