Mexico is your best bang for your buck. Either Cozumel and Isla muheres area or over on the pacific side. They are really touristy, but the water is lovely. Go all inclusive. Preferably with higher end alcohol brands included.

Otherwise, any of the islands in the area would be gorgeous.

Sandals, Couples, and Secrets Resorts always get great reviews on these boards. We went to Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica and had an amazing time. Couples Resorts are only in Jamaica, but Sandals and Secrets are spread out throughout the Carribbean. Mexico definitely gets you the best bang for your buck, just be sure to read Trip advisor reports before choosing.

I went to Punta Cana on my honeymoon and it was at an all-inclusive resort called Princess Punta Cana All Suites Resort & Spa. We booked it through and had no trouble at all. Our agent’s name was Lian Alston. The best part is that it’s adults only at the resort so there weren’t a bunch of kids around so it was on the quieter side and was very relaxing. We got the biggest suite at the resort which had a huge spa tub and amazing view of the beach. I don’t remember how much it cost us but we stayed for 6 days. You can browse the website and it should show the pricing on there.

We have been to Cuba, Mexico, and Dominican.

My favourite resort in DR is Bahia Principe Ambar in Punta Cana. It’s adults-only, 5 stars, huge complex with tons of restaurants, pools, and activities. Nice rooms. Not crazy expensive either – pretty good value! We also stayed at the Bahia Principe Luxury in La Romana and it was not as nice.

In Mexico we didn’t stay in a high end resort so no specific suggestions – but overall I love the Mayan riviera for proximity to Chichen Itza and Tulum.

bridgetkh9 :  We’re going to Vanuatu 😀 😀 Staying at the Havannah (which is all inclusive food + drinks at certain times) for 9 nights. Adults only, so no kids. Bliss……

Looks spectacular. It flies under the radar because it’s usually overshadowed by Fiji, but that makes it better!

Not cheap though, we’re paying over $1k AUD per night…but that’s with a private pool upgrade, so you could probably get it cheaper

My husband and I LOVE Mexico because it is less than a 2 hour flight from us and such an easy vacation. Here are my resort suggestions, all adults only!! Really  Adults only is the way to go for honeymoon (or any vacation!). They tend to be nicer in general, better food, and better service from my experience.

Live Aqua Cancun – it is amazing, high rise, modern luxury style. It is pretty pricey but occasionally you can find a good deal. Probably one of my top 2 choices.

Secrets Akumal or Secrets Maroma Beach. Really, you cant go wrong with a secrets resort. Secrets Silversands is not as new, so the price here was a little cheaper.

Excellence Playa mujeres. We honeymooned here. Probably our top choice. Amazing food, very nice facilities!

Our little hidden gem is the Valentine Imperial Maya. It is a super nice resort and for some reason we’ve found it to be much cheaper than the others. It’s a great budget friendly option! Also they have the best pool I have ever seen lol. Flip side, the beach isnt STELLAR. Its good, but definitely not Cancun water.

Also, I just want to let you know that immediate Cancun area and outside in the Riviera Maya are not the same. The beaches can be very different because of coral reefs. In Cancun, you will get that bright blue water. In the Riviera maya, it can very between dark blue to plain brown gulf water. And it can vary day to day in the Riviera Maya too. But if you are really set on having that amazing turquoise water – you will need to stay in Cancun. Or Tulum or Akumal Bay area.
