@Jkw102613:  How much flying do you want to do? We’re going to Curacao because it’s a quick flight on the east coast. We wanted to get to the beach the day after our wedding. Curacao is outside of the hurricane belt too and there are plenty of chain hotels and funkier botique hotels too.

Bora Bora is effing incredible and I can’t wait to go there in February. We just didn’t want to fly that much right after our wedding.

I did the Virgin Islands last November.  It was beautiful and safe with plenty to do.  Keep an eye on weather patterns.  We went in mid November just after Hurricane season but before what the islands consider “Winter”

Aruba. It’s outside of the hurricane belt, it’s beautiful, and it’s safe. We went there in July and loved it. We are going back for our anniversary.

Travel Nut here…

End of October is still part of the Atlantic Hurricane Season (June 1st to November 30th)

Biggest Hurricanes tend to happen in August, September & October… altho so far 2013 seems to be a very slow to get started year (just 6 Storms so far A-Fernand, and they’ve all been Tropical Storms).  Last year Hurricane Sandy happened at the end of October in your timeframe, and we all know how devastating that was to the Caribbean and US Atlantic Seaboard.

Personally, I’d avoid the Caribbean during Hurricane Season… I’d prefer not to spend my well earned Holiday Money on a disappointment, more so if it is my Honeymoon.

Want tropical in October, I’d look to Hawaii, or somewhere truly exotic on the other side of the world.

Hope this helps,
