Can I ask why the 8 hr cut off? Because you have eliminated pretty much all of the Islands within your time frame.

There are some Islands in Panama (Bocas del Toro) which is just over 6 hrs flight time

What about a different Hawaiian island? I’ve been to a lot of the caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica etc and honestly Kauai is probably one of my favorite tropical destinations. I live on the East Coast so its pretty expensive for us to fly to Hawaii (we’re paying less to go to Europe this year than what we paid to fly to Hawaii!) and the Caribbean is just more accessible to us.

Tahiti! I believe it’s 8 hours from LAX

Apperently with a short enough stopover in Miami, you can get to The Bahamas in just under 8 hours from San Francisco.

Have you thought about taking a cruise from Florida?

Hawaii is only 5 hours. Big Island is so different from the other islands. Try Kauai or Maui!

Hawaii is your best bet. Tahiti is about 9 hours away from SFO (8 from LAX)–so if you’re a little flexible with that time frame, you could try that. That’s where we’re probably going to go.

I agree with PPs. If you go to Hawaii, go to Kauai or Maui!
