Me and my fiance have been on a diet for about 3 weeks.
I weighed 195, I’m 5’8.
He weighed 315, he’s 6’4.
We’ve been jogging/walking together. He jogs a little longer, but we did everything together. We also ate pretty much the same stuff…I only cheated yesterday and ate a cookie.
I’ve lost 2 pounds.
He lost 16.
WHY? W H Y

Sounds similar to me and my guy. Same diet, same excersize regimine – he’s lost 8lbs I’ve lost 2. I think guys must loose the weight a bit quicker! Don’t let it discourage you 🙂

Aw that totally sucks, I know the feeling. Fiance and I are dieting now, too. He’s lost 10+ lbs and I’ve lost 4.5.
Two reasons – guys lose weight faster than girls in general and he has more weight to lose, so he’s going to lose weight a bit faster.
Don’t compare – just keep doing what you’re doing.
Also, perhaps the diet/exercise regimen is working for HIM, but not for YOU. Every body is different and loses weight differently – I know my Fiance loses a ton of weight from working out even if he doesn’t diet, but I must, must, must diet to lose weight. And, we diet differently and we workout differently. So, keep in mind that what works for him might not work for you.
Another thing – you said you’ve been eating pretty much the same stuff – are you eating the same portion sizes? And, he may be drastically cutting his calories in comparison to what he was eating before, but maybe you’re not cutting as much in ratio. Like, maybe he ate 3000 calories before and now is eating 1500. Maybe you are only eating 1500 now, but were only eating 1800 before – so that’s only a 300 calorie deficit.
Oh and maybe he just had a lot more water weight to lose than you did.
Just find something that works for you and keep up with it and good luck!!

I’m trying not to obsess over the numbers – I find visualization helps ( I pin motivational photos on my pinterest)…and keeping myself as busy as humanly possible so I don’t have the urge to eat!
But everyone is different with how quickly they loose weight. I think you’ll get to a point after the 1st 5-10 lbs that it will start coming off a little quicker. It’s all about meeting each hurdle…one step at a time!

@leporidae: guys lose weight much faster! my fiance and i are both normal healthy weight, him more so than me. We both run nightly. i dont really lose weight, i gain more muscle in my legs. however he started running more, and lost 8 lbs, mind you he already had a 6 pack, so now he just looks too skinny. its not fair haha

As a former trainer, coles notes version is that Men loose faster and bigger numbers to boot end of story…..(and the larger you are the bigger the numbers will be because its that much harder for them to keep up).
it sucks, its not fair, my Fi can loose 5lbs in a week when I loose 0.5……. I want to smack him all the time, but its life lol, its biological.

Usually for breakfast I’ll have oatmeal with skim milk and a little brown sugar (like a teaspoon). He might have the same. If he doesnt, he’ll have turkey ham with Wasa crackers and water.
For lunch we usually eat salad with some kind of protein. Sometimes we have eggs (3 boiled, eating only one yolk) with crackers and juice. Yesterday I have lentil soup and a banana with juice.
Today I “pigged out” and had salad and soup and half a boiled sweet potatoe (no cinammon or sugar added…I actually like it salted lol).
Tonight, it seemed my “dinner” is going to be a bowl of strawberries. I might eat something else later… maybe more fruit or oatmeal.
Unfortunately, lately our dishes haven’t been varied. We’ve been eating the same stuff over and over…
The worst I’ve eaten was like 3 pieces of plain dark chocolate, mostly under the guise that it does have antioxidants lol. Oh and that cookie I mentioned before…
Oh, and we’re drinking Muscle Milk (I drink 6 ounces, he has 12 because I think it tastes yukky).

Really though. Let’s say I’m pigging out like I used to. I am exercizing and I wasn’t at all before, so that alone should’ve made me lose SOMETHING.
I’m a truck driver so I spend a lot of time sitting. I do muscle work because I load and unload the truck, so my arms have bulked up, but I’m still fat.
I LOVE sweets. I used to eat cookies almost everyday. I ate bread. I had chicken with rice, potatoes or pretty much anything. I really didn’t care anymore because in the past, I tried losing the weight and it just wouldnt come off. So I said screw it, and ate whatever I wanted. The weight is slowly going up and I don’t want to get fatter…But I feel so bad that I’m doing all this work for what it seems like nothing.
There’s a pack of cookie dough glaring back at me in the fridge RIGHT NOW. God I wanna eat the crap out of that…I would eat that dough like no dough has ever been eaten before! Books will be written about The Cookie Devoring of 2013.

Sorry this is going to seem like I’m talking really fast….
I’ve lost 33lbs so far. Are you counting your calories? If so, how many? Do you have a My Fitness Pal accont? If not, get one and use it every single day. Fruit has become my worst enemy for dieting btw. For an apple and a banana, you can have 2 slices of bread, a slice of low calorie cheese, mustard and a slice of ham. Apple and banana vs filling sandwich? Also, skip the juice and have something more filling for the 100 calories…perhaps some peanut butter.
My FH can eat 2000 calories a day and lose 2lbs a week. For me, eating 2000 calories a day will have me gaining a pound every two weeks. 1700 calories is what I need to maintain. You cant eat as much as he eats.
