So my fiance is a former professional DJ! Which is great as I trust his taste. However, I feel the one he wants it’s too expensive. He decided that he really likes the expensive DJ company #1 due to their quality of work and from talking with one guy at a bridal show. I’m trying to help him to be a bit more realistic about price but do understand his concern on quality. The thing is he told my dad that he would pay for the DJ so it would help cut the costs back for my dad…but my fiances financial situation has changed since that conversation and won’t be able to really do so meaning it would be one more thing that I will most likely have to help pay! 🙁 At this point we don’t have the money for the down payment to even reserve the date and sign a contract w/a DJ. Keep in mind in this area the really good ones book early so we’re trying to avoid the rush to hire one.
Our coordinator recommended a second DJ company and said they were really good. We almost booked them last week after talking to them at a bridal show, but he wanted to talk to the other company again. So I said ok that’s fine.
I however feel the second one meets our needs/wants better due to pricing and fact I can get uplighting and STILL come under the $2K price of the first DJ company. But I can’t seem to convince him.
So here is the deal:
DJ Company #1: Price is $2000 with 6 hours of entertainment (means during the cocktail hr.), wireless mics, subwoffers (if want) and other things can’t remember. NO Uplighting.
DJ company #2: For $750 for 4 hours, $150 more for each hour, no mention of wireless mics, microphones etc. and $45 per light for the uplighting (needing a total of 10-18 in our room.
Should I try to talk him out of it or just let it be?? Also, note that we are going to meet with DJ company #1 hopefully soon to talk and see if we would like him. If fiance is still set on him should I just give in so he’s happy since I’m getting a lot of what I want and he’s not really. Or should I stand my ground on going the #2 DJ who’s price is cheaper. BOTH are of good quality service and very excellent ratings!
