Let’s be honest. Turkey bacon is laughable. At least, I think so. I’ve never tried it because, c’mon. There’s hardwood smoked pork belly right next to it. How could I choose the pinkish-hued turkey bacon?
But, alas…my health consiousness makes me feel as though I should give turkey bacon a try. But is it worth it? True bacon lovers know what a sacrafice it would be to trasition from pork to turkey. Please guide me.
Bacon haters need not apply!

Turkey bacon is the devil’s work.

It’s not disgusting, but it’s not bacon, either.

I absolutely hate it. I’d rather just have a couple slices of real bacon. I don’t see a huge calorie and fat difference.

Awful. It’s awful.
We’re on a low fat diet so I got some tueky bacon thinking that it would be close to real thing. Yea, not so much. One bite in and I was done.

It’s not bad, just different, but you will be disappointed if you expect it to feel or taste like bacon

I’m not going to vote because I think real bacon is kind of overpowering sometimes (I know *gasp*) BUT…if you choose to venture into turkey bacon, make sure you get the Oscar Meyer one, not the Jennie-O one. Or even any other brand but Jennie-O. Their turkey bacon is groooooss. We literally threw a package away and I am very opposed to wasting food and money. That being said, turkey bacon is healthier.

i eat it but i don’t expect bacon. it’s more like slightly rigid deli meat.

@profiterole: ooookay. That was waht I needed to hear. I HAAAATE deli meat!! hahah
Bonus points if anyone can name the movie that “IT’S NEVER GONNA BE _____” came from. It’s a bit of a paraphrase, but I bet someone can guess!

I like my bacon super crispy so turkey bacon just doesn’t do it for me, as much as I would like it to. I buy the reduced fat regular bacon, which tastes just about the same.

@Westwood: We always get 40% less fat/40% less fat center cut bacon, beacuse we actually prefer it. Less fatty parts, and less greasy. Turkey bacon sounds like it might be a rabbit hole I don’t want to go down…

I LOVE bacon, but I only eat veggie and turkey bacon at home. I think it’s good. But if I’m going out, I best be getting real bacon!

It’s not bacon, but I think it’s a good substitute if you can spice it right.

We love bacon, my Fiance and I. Turkey bacon isn’t bacon!!!!! It’s blech.
We’re seriously considering joining the Bacon of the Month Club.

It tastes pretty good, but real bacon frys in it’s own fat. Turkey bacon virtually has no fat so it never gets crispy like actual bacon.
