@tassielady:  I know how you feel. We went through something similar. I wish I could give you big hugs. Please PM me if you ever need to chat.

@tassielady:  Oh goodness, I am so sorry. That’s just terrible and has to be such a blow to deal with. I know how hard it is to suddenly stop in your tracks after planning for so long.

I hope that you can get things figured out and hopefully make it happen closer to now, but no matter what, know that the important part is always the love between you two. <3

@tassielady:  Oh sweetie, I am so sorry!! 🙁  I know what it’s like to have to postpone a wedding and I promise you that when that day does come, it will be absolutely perfect and you will look back to this moment and it will all make sense!  But I know it’s still so very hard.   ((HUGS)) It will get better, I promise!

Oh gosh, what a thing to have to do 🙁 As PP have said, though, when you do make it to the wedding it’ll be all the more special. I hope things work out better for in the mean time!

(And crosses fingers some of those deposits get refunded.)

If you really want to marry each other, your financial situation shouldn’t make a bit of difference. You already have the dress, centerpieces and probably a few other elements as well – just scale it down to a simpler event.

Our wedding only cost $3,500 for 40 people, including dress, rings, officiant and license, nice catered dinner, wine, flowers, photographer. It can be done!

Would you consider eloping, and having an event later on (a year or two or three down the road)? My partner and I are eloping and it’s so much cheaper than a wedding. Since you already have your dress, that’s a huge plus. For us, it costs $50 for our marriage license, and then the mayor requests a $25 donation (it goes to the food bank). We are choosing to have a photographer, but I talked to them and they are giving us a great rate. You can easily get married for under $500. If you want to elope, you could even have some people with you and then have some cake back at your house

If they won’t straight up refund you, maybe the vendors will agree to apply all or part of your deposit to their services in a few years, when you can hold the wedding without financial worries.

What a bummer.  I hope it works out for you.
