Im pretty sure im supposed to be excited about trying on wedding dresses for the first time but i cant seem to get into the mind frame. i love dresses but i guess in just worried nothing will look right on me.
I have a lot of hang ups with my body and im so nervous.
Background- i have been struggling to maintain a steady weight for the past 10 years. I was anorexic when i was 15 and struggle with body dysmorphia. I hate the way my body looks and envy women with curves.
Im 5’8 and about 119 lbs (i think thats right, 8.5 stone) I hate my coller bones which are really prominant and i hate that you can see clavicle and sternum. I am a 32B with no hips. I have no idea what sort of dresses to look at that wont make me look like a pencil.
its my bony chest i hate 🙁

@Carolinejane: I love that my collarbones show. But because of your past, I can see your issues and reasoning for them.
I think the 1st picture would be great on you, or even a high neck bolero on any other type of dress you like if it happens to be strapless.
Do you have any pictures of you or pics of dresses you love?

@Carolinejane: i understand how you feel, i have heaps of body hangups too, although at the moment i am overweight, not under, but i found this dress online that i wanted to try on. i hate trying on clothes cos i see myself in the mirror and hate my body, but when i tried on a wedding dress for the first time, i actually felt beautiful. so just find some you want to try on, and i am sure you will look great 🙂

@Carolinejane: we are all our worst critics. im sure you will look great in a lot of dresses. all you can do is go out there and try on and see for yourself how you look/feel. it wont be easy, but the end result will be worth it.

I am the same body shape as you. I haven’t ever suffered from anything like you have, but I sort of understand what you mean about not knowing what to go for. Someone once told me this: remember that most designers use tall, skinny girls with boyish frames to show off their clothes. Why? Because you can pull almost anything off. It’s just one of the pros of having a skinny body. So I would try and just try a huge variety of styles and fabrics and shapes. Try on things you don’t even like off the hanger. Wear some comfortable clothes that are easy to change in/out of, and underwear that you don’t mind people seeing! Honestly, you’ll have SO much fun, if you try and relax and enjoy yourself. It’s like dressing up in fancy dress and that first time you see yourself in a bridal gown will be soo strange! I hope you have a lovely time!

Last week i thought i had put on a bit of weight, but i had a picture taken on Saturday and i look skinnier than i thought i was and in this pic i can really notice the bones on my chest. My face looks thinner than it normally does too.
Our venue is a Barn so im not sure about anything too puffy, the wedding i went to on satuday was a barn and her train was so long she couldnt move properly. My Fiance is shoter than me (hence why im siting down so im trying to be careful when selecting a dress as not to make myself too taller!
I understand it probably not as noticable as i think it is which explains the body dysmorphia.
