So next week I am going to try on dresses for the first time and With my wedding being moved up by 6 months all the bridal stores have advised me that I need to have the dress ordered by end of month(So I will have to pick a dress this weekend. So I am flying to my folks (where wedding will be, Reno,NV) and having a weekend of wedding planning. BUT I was needing advice on what should I bring and/or wear to the bridal appts. I will be going striaght off the plane at 9am to my first appt, so I would like to be ready.

@FutureArmyWife12: strapless bra, smooth undies – not frilly like so they ruck up under the dresses, not too much make up so you can really see how much a dress suits your complexicon

keep an open mind. I went in with a laundry list of what I wanted and ended up with something completely different! make sure you have a hair clip/tie to see the dress with your hair up and down. wear something comfy and easy to take off/put back on.

The shoes you will be wearing if you have them yet. Spanx. Id say strapless bra but I think its ridiculous to wear a bra under a wedding dress unless the dress is some satin night gown looking thing or actually requires a bra. Any dress with boning or corset etc, should never need a bra lol try not to be full from eating and maybe have a poop lol I know that sounds dumb but trust me, you dont want to be bloated in any way. Shave your armpits too.

wear the undergarments you plan on wearing on your wedding day, if possible (strapless/longline bra, spanx, etc).
wear clothes that are easy to take off and put back on.
a lot stores won’t allow you to take pictures, but some do allow you it, so take your camera so you can take pics to compare to other dresses at other stores.
take magazine pictures with you to show the consultant what you have in mind, but be open to suggestions too.
let your entourage know what you like/don’t like so that they can be supportive of what you want and not want they want.

I also did my hair close to how I want, and my makeup, so that I could really see myself as a bride. Also, you may want to shop, go to lunch, and then come back and try on your favorites. I shopped on 2 days and spent about 6 hours there, and I only tried join about 8 dresses. My store provided a bra and petticoat etc. Bring shoes similar to what you want to we war on your day (height wise)

@MissBling: LOL some of this made me laugh a bit, good thing is I wont have to much in my tummy as I have to be up at 4am to get to airport in time, so breakfast will be on the go, and mostly water and a snack until lunch. I was thinking no bra too, but Id like a little umpf, if i wore a strapless would it give me that even in a dress that didnt need the bra? I was not blessed with big assests, so any help I would take lol. and the shaving is def happening before I go to bed, no idea on shoes yet I usually wear 5 – 6 inch heels but my Fiance is only a inch and a half taller then me , so I am going with a 3 1/2 inch heel most likely. hopefully the bridal store has some smaples in that height i can try with the dress. Thank you for your help.
@CatyLady: Smooth bottoms, CHECK lol thanks cuz that had totally slipped my mind, I probably would have just thrown on whatever was on top in my drawer 😉 However makeup, I always wear amzing eyeshadows and my makeup is what I call my natural complextion lol. So makeup will be in force come that day, although ill be doing in the air, should be fun 🙂 thks a bunch
@littlemisst08: my mom and dad keep saying the same thing to keep an open mind, cuz i too have a list of what i think my perfect dress will have. So i am trying to tell myself just try on whatever they pick out (my dad surprisingly has amazing fashion sense) cuz who knows i could find the dress, and never have looked at it before. thank you

@FutureArmyWife12: The bridal sotre will deff have shoes. LOL and yea I have a funny side to me but what can I say, nobody wants ”that feeling” when you are trying on dresses bahaha
As far as a bra goes, a corset or dress with boning will always help out but if you really want some cleav you can get the little gel inserts and actually a lot of bridal stores carry them to throw in there for you haha Personally, I have a very large chest so I dont know any more details than that lol

I always went:
-either didnt eat or never ate very heavy foods so I wasnt bloated
-good undergarments (although all the nicer bridal salons had really good undergarments so I dont know if they are a NECESSITY to bring with you)
-clothes that are EASY TO GET OUT OF! I cant stress that enough.
-do not wear a lot of makeup (I usually do so I had to remember this)
-bring pictures of different dresses or dress styles that you think you may like
