We just bought our house recently, and it’s slowly coming together, but we still have a TON more to do. The guest bedrooms are desolate (a bed and dresser/book shelf). We haven’t hung ANYTHING in most of the house –the walls are bare. There are still 3 rooms we need to paint and all of the trim needs to be repainted. We need to paint the dining room table. We don’t even have any lamps in the living room or curtains hung! I could go on … the project list is endless. And believe it or not, we’ve done a ton already!
And that is all fine and good EXCEPT we will be having 6 of DH’s family members staying at our house for 3-4 days over Thanksgiving (NOT my idea, believe me. SIGH.). And I am stressing because I feel our house is not ready to host other people for an extended amount of time yet. I haven’t had enough time or funds to make it into the warm, inviting place I want it to be for others. I want them to be as comfortable as possible, and it’s stressing me out because there’s so much left we need to do.
If it were my own family, I wouldn’t be near as bothered by it. But since it’s my brand new in-laws, I want it looking as nice as possible. And in the future, I will be more than happy to host once we are more settled!
Bitching over.
