I got engaged recently on a trip to Ireland. My fiance is from there and we drove across the country to a few different cities. On day 3 we went to the Cliffs of Moher and he popped the question.

I turned around to him on one knee, absolutely shaking. After I said yes (well, after he reminded me to say yes) our friends came and surprised us with a bottle of champagne.

Good luck, I hope it happens for you!

I’ll be in the same boat as you in about six weeks! I honestly dont have much advice – if I were you I probably wouldnt be able to resist temptation to tear apart the room looking for the ring while SO was in the bathroom or something!

I don’t have much advice, but pre-congrats!! Share ring pics once it happens! My Fiance was sneaky and proposed to me the day before our vacation because he knew I thought it was happening during the vacation.

We were going to Disney World and I was convinced it would happen there. We went to visit his parents before we left, and the day before we left, he told me he had to go waiter at a restaurant he used to work at because they were low staffed. His parents told me we could go to dinner to see him (which we used to do often when he still worked there). We showed up for dinner, and my Fiance had set up a private dining room with candles and flowers and popped the question! We had a four course meal afterwards. He even had my parents come in as a surprise!

DON’T GO LOOKING FOR THE RING!!!! Go to the pool or something to get out of that room! I was tempted to do the same thing but so glad I didn’t!

My fiance proposed when we were in the Grand Cayman in November for our 4 year anniversary. I knew he had the ring with him but I didn’t know how he was going to do it.

At first, he hid a random orange bag in the safe and wouldn’t let me get anything inside. He would freak out when I tried to put our passports in there which was a big clue.

The night that he did it he said to me, “let me bring my orange bag with me” which I found really weird but I was like whatever. I had actually forgotten about the ring in general cause I was hungry lol.

We tried walking on the beach but it was too dark outside. But then we walked over to a fire pit table at our resort and that’s where he popped the question!!

He didn’t have the ring ready in his pocket tho… he said, “babe….. hold on one second…” and I waited like 15 seconds! Lmaoo He had to go through the bag to get the box that contained the ring box and then bring it out to get down on one knee. It felt like forever! He isn’t much of a planner and I could tell he was very nervous. It was all very sweet and exactly like him. I obviously said yes! We had a wonderful dinner and champagne to celebrate. He proposed at the very beginning of the trip so we could celebrate for the rest of the week which was wonderful!

Here’s a picture of where he proposed. It was at the Kimpton Seafire Resort on the Grand Cayman. The fire pit is in the bottom left hand corner. Hands down the most luxurious resort we have ever been to and the best vacation of my life.

We got engaged on a trip to Africa. I had nooo idea it would be that trip as a week prior my sister, who was in cahoots with the ring, said that they hadn’t picked a final design and needed more inspo pics sent. He proposed our first day there on a hill at sunset. Our hosts had set up a fire and champagne and a beautiful little dining area. I thought it was just part of our vacation package – a romantic sunset dinner! I’ve never seen him as nervous as when he got down on one knee.

When we were packing before we left I was putting advil in his carry-on and my sister got after me for “going through his bag” and I was like okaaaay I’m just putting advil in…now I know why LOL! He was also worried it would be confiscated at customs but he had all the paperwork just in case.

I knew my SO wasn’t proposing when he freely let me rummage in his backpack and his suitcase. :/.  I hope it’s magical.  Distract yourself with the destination.  Plan on it being at the airport. Then you’ll be surprised!

pearfectprincess :  How exciting!

My (now) fiance and I were traveling throughout Europe, we had booked a boat trip to this small semi private island in Amsterdam for a three course dinner. The restaurant is made out of an old bunker so it’s all candlelit and dark and romantic. There are wild sheep that roam around so we went out to take a selfie while everyone else was at their tables, after I took the selfie I was looking it then turned around and he was down on one knee and holding the ring. He was nervous and just smiling and took a bit before he finally asked if I’d marry him. It was super sweet.

We were on vacation and went on a dolphin encounter at a dolphin research center.  We were in the water with the dolphins and the trainer asked me and my (then) Boyfriend to come over to another area.  Next thing I know a dolphin comes over with a small metal  (waterproof) box.  My boyfriend took it and opened it (revealing my ring) and ask me to marry him.  He now jokes that he did it that way so he did not have to get down on one knee.

We got engaged last August while on vacation. We went to Paris, London, and drove all of Ireland. I was hoping that it would happen and got a little upset when it seemed like it wasn’t happening in Paris. I got past that and he proposed when we were at the most beautiful place in Ireland (Skellig Michael). The location was in Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie and said that when he saw the location during the movie, he knew that was the spot to propose. It was such a perfect spot.

My suggestion is to try not to let the possibility of a proposal take over the rest of your vacation.
