Are there dresses that you like parts of? If so have you thought about getting one made? That’s what I am doing. There was this dress I LOVED the body of but I wasn’t keen on the top & there was a top of a different dress that make my boobs look really good so I put an alchemy add on etsy.com within 2 days I had 6 offers of people to make my dress! And it was 30% less than the originals AND I won’t need alterations!

That dress looks absolutely STUNNING on you!  If there is a way to get it made cheaper (etsy is a good option, or a local seamstress), I think you should go for it!

I think the dress looks fantastic on you.  As for what your mom said, I know it hurts because you want your mom to love your dress as much as you do, but sometimes it doesn’t always work out that way.  I have a mermaid/tumpet dress as well, and when I showed my mom pics of other mermaid dresses (without telling her what I had chosen), she told me they looked too much like ‘fish’ and didn’t like them at all.  She much preferred the A-line dresses.  When I finally choked out that my dress was a mermaid/trumpet, she said that it’s really up to me, since I’m the one who will be wearing it.  But to tell you the truth, it hurt.  ALOT.  But honestly, the day is about YOU and what YOU like, and YOU will be the one wearing the dress of your dreams.

Your dress is PERFECT. My mom’s favorite dress isn’t the one I bought either. She likes it, but didn’t LOVE it until she knew I did and I had already bought it. We have different styles…and that’s OK! Don’t worry..
