I think its actually a pretty dress! It could use some alterations but would be beautiful to try to make something lovely out of it! If it doesnt work out you could try to make it into a fun reception dress!

I’m actually wearing my mother’s dress. It’s so unique and princess like! Wedding dresses these days seem to be the same boring strapless white dress.

The waist down is so beautiful and romantic! I actually really like the skirt.

I actually really love the whole dress– sleeves included. I think its just so baggy that it looks unflattering. Is there anyway you can get it altered so that the sleeves are a tight fit against your arms? I would also see if you can get the bodice on the dress into a more fitted design but keep the details, and bring the bottom of the bodice lower so the bottom of it is sitting around your hips, and have the skirt of the dress poofed up so it makes a nicer A-line shape.

Or change the skirt into a tulle skirt and move the lace from it to your bouquet or some other detail of your wedding

ellagrace:  that dress totally has potential! As it sits, it isn’t all that horrible considering it’s an 80s dress. If you do anything with, PLEASE, come here and post about it. I love when gals get the opportunity to wear their moms dress again, for whatever (shower, rehearsal).

I’m so sad that my mom’s dress fell apart. It dried up and disintegrated in my mom’s hands as she pulled it out when I was a teenager. Her dress was so classic and totally could have been worn again, and I would have.

It’s such a beautiful dress wow! I’m trying to use my mom’s dress for the wedding that my grandma made back in the days, will have alterations made by my aunt : )

Really for an 80s dress it could so be worse. I think if you tightened the sleeves to not be so puffy and made maybe a boat neck instead of the high neck and either shorten to tea length or maybe add a crinoline to fluff the bottom or take out some of the skirt to make it less full (more a line less ball gown) it could work and be so special.

My mom is 4 inches shorter and was all of a size 4 when she got married so her dress was way too small for me but I would have loved to alter it to wear!

I tried on my mom’s dress just for fun! It fit me, but looked pretty funny on me!
