I’m having a hard time deciding about the Sottero and Midgley Tracey dress. The second I put it on I was IN LOVE, because it was simply everything I was looking for: sweetheart, mermaid, all-over lace, corset back…just perfect. However, I’m running into a couple problems.
The first major problem is that I’m only 5’2″ and less than 110lbs, and the train on the dress is rediculously long. So I’m afraid the dress is going to swallow me, plus my reception is outside and I’m not sure if that would be appropriate. The seamstress at the bridal store said it’s possible to take in a train, but that makes me nervous.
The next problem is that I was really hoping to put a baby pink sash with whatever dress I found, but I’m a little worried that I’ll look too flashy since the dress already has a lot going on.
Also, my bridesmaid dresses were described as “dainty” by my future MOL, which I loved, and was kinda hoping my whole wedding would fall under that category. Does the dress and bridesmaid dress compliment each other?
The more I look at it and think about it the more I fall in love with it, so maybe all those things don’t matter. Thanks so much for all the suggestions!!!

That wedding dress looks beautiful on you. That was the look I wanted for my wedding dress until my hips got in the way. I think I’m more hip than woman, so I just looked all hips. If you’re 5 ft 2, then its likely everythign you buy will have to be taken in. your seamstress should know what she’s doing so dont worry about it too much. As for the bridesmaid dress, I think i is absolutely beautiful. from just the pictures, it doesnt quite match or compliment your dress. HOWEVER, I don’t think you should worry about it. When you have all your girls wearing it, it will come together nicely i think. What I noticed with weddings, is that, if you have somethign that clashes, but if it looks intentional (like having a lot of people do it) , it suddenly looks great.

What a beautiful dress! I love it. I think it definitly would match “dainty” bridesmaids dresses lol. (I can just hear my grandma describing a dress as dainty and cute when I read that)
I would ask the seamstress to show you a few different bustles. That would resolve the issue with the length of the train. If you prefer you could leave it bustled during the ceremony and reception- however it looks best to you.
I’m not sure if I would love a pink sash with it, but what about some awesome pink heels, or a pink crinoline/petticoat underneath it?
You look great in the dress. Let us know what you decide.

I think you look stunning in that dress, it does not at all look like it’s swallowing you! I personally think that you only get to wear a dress like this once, so you should choose one you love, regardless of anything else (except maybe budget, haha). I don’t think the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and your dress need to match at all. I had 5 Bridesmaid or Best Man and all of them wore a different style dress in the same color… so no matching here! It still looks nice. And I don’t see anything wrong with wearing this dress outside, even with the long train. It’s what you love, people aren’t going to be thinking about whether or not it “fits” the venue once they see you in it!
If you love it, get it!

@nikkialys: This is a good idea – a bustle will help with the train.
I love this dress on you. You look amazing in it. I wouldn’t have a sash on it though.

I would get it. I can see why you love it so much. I’m not much of a sash fan in general but I really don’t think a sash would look at all bad with this. As far as the train, I really don’t think it’s swallowing you in this picture, but you’re also standing on a pedestal. Can you see how you feel on that after you get the shoes and would go back for alterations? If the seamstress can shorten the train a little, I wouldn’t be too nervous about that. Also, won’t it be bustled for the reception? As far as the bridesmaid dresses I personally don’t think they DON’T match. I didn’t even think twice about that when I was picking out my girls dresses and I think it will look perfectly good together.

I agree with the others that pink sash would be too much. Regarding the train .. I personally don’t like bustles & I’m having my train almost virtually taken off, just leaving a tiny train.
My seamstress just tucked the train underneath so I got an idea what it would look like shorter. I would say try this before you make any decision .. if you like bustles, then that is the prefect solution
