Sounds like a virus, but if you’re not better after a week or two you really should go to the doc and get some blood work done.

Are there any other symptoms?  I had similar symptoms last year with a high fever and a slightly sore throat.  We actually did think I may be pregnant at first.  The doctor then thought it was strep but it wasn’t and the only other option was mono.  I didn’t go back because he prescribed me a medication that would make me break out if it was mono and help if it was strep.  I broke out so I just slept it off as best as I could but it lasted about two to three weeks.

I would have them test you for Lyme as well. The joint pain is what concerns me.  Iknow several people who have Lyme and it is treatable once diagnosed. But joint pain is common with it.

I didn’t even think about Lyme disease.  I had it a couple of years ago and never had the bullseye rash.  Definitely get checked!

Hypothyroid?  Have you ever had any problems with your thyroid or your family?

Or Mono?

Not all ticks leave a bullseye or stay attached. Both my mom and sister have lyme disease very severely and neither of them had bullseyes or found the tick.

@miss sparkly cat: Yes, it can in some cases – especially untreated.

I know you are without health insurance right now, so perhaps you can take your basal tempature and see if anything comes out of it?

Hope you feel better.  Are you taking anything for the joint pain?  Tylenol, Aleve, Advil? Any relief?

Btw, have you ever had your iron checked?  If you go in for bloodwork, you should have it checked if you can.  A lot of women are low.  And it seems like you felt this way during your period.

Good luck, hoping you feel better.
