Ebay was my favorite. Also Wedding groups on FB. I was able to score on both.

seejanebee:  There are many sellers who need a reality check. Many of them get it when their stuff doesn’t sell at their original asking price. Don’t hesitate to say something like “I would really like to purchase your ___, but I can’t afford your asking price. If you are willing to sell it for __ , I will buy it.  If you decide to lower your price, please contact me immediately.”

Try http://www.searchtempest.com/ it is a website that searches all Craigslist, Kijiji and Ebay ads.

I’m a bride on a budget as well.  I’ve been very lucky though.  I joined Freecye.org and posted a couple of times for gently used wedding decor, mason jars, and other wedding related items.  One bride gave me her entire rustic/vintage decor because her venue was changing and it didn’t suit her new venue.  My theme is vintage rustic ๐Ÿ™‚  Another bride had cake cutters, artificial flower petals (unopened), candles, that she just wanted to get rid of.  Another lady gave me 10 mason jars and I plan to use these along the aisle for the ceremony.  I would try there and hopefully you get lucky like me!

I’ve also reached out to friends on fb – those that got married and still had decor lying around the house.  Several friends reached out to me!  One gave me tulle materials that will cover ceremony decor.  Another gave me her center piece vases (that must’ve cost over $200), and another had leftover magnet mini frames as wedding favors.  She had 90 left which is great since we expect under 100 guests.  Until now I still get friends emailing me asking if I need anything else ๐Ÿ™‚

Through facebook I also joined a local auction bidding group where I live.  I found photobooth props, lanterns, led tea lights, arts & crafts items I could use for my DIY for cheap!  Basically brides trying to get rid of wedding decor by selling/auctioning them for cheap.  I plan to sell/auction my stuff on there and hopefully make some money back ๐Ÿ™‚

I posted an ad on Craigslist and Kijiji too for wanted wedding decor items and got a couple of responses as well.

I even joined Estate Sales/Auction groups to find my sweetheart table/love seat – but a friend is lending us her loveseat since I posted about needing one on facebook, and FI’s sister has the vintage table we can borrow to go with it ๐Ÿ™‚

Other items I got from shopping at thrift stores.  Also, my Future Mother-In-Law is a huge collector and a lot of my decor came from her!!!

There are ways to get things for much cheaper if you’re willing to research and have the time to really shop for those bargains!

Hope this kind of helps?  Good luck bee!

I have been looking for used items as well! I think there is A LOT of rustic decor out there. My theme unfortunately is not rustic so I have had no luck. I have seen better prices on ebay than craigslist and these wedding website classifieds.

Definately Ebay.  Think outside the box also.  For example my wedding colors were blue/white/silver.  I found Christmas decorations (silver bells/beads)  which was dirt cheap

I bought a lot on Craigslist. I never once paid what they asked. I always politely gave them a lower offer and they usually came back with something more reasonable.ย

Our wedding was 2 weeks ago. I made everything myself. It was a quaint ceremony on a boardwalk. I had a beach/starfish theme and found so many ideas on Pinteres! I used coup for the craft store and rook time making things. I found all my starfish/shells at a local flea market. I was pleased our venue had so many things that we didn’t have to spend extra on.
