It has been a very long time since I have last posted anything on the site but I could really use some advice and encouragement. My DH and I have been trying to conceive since April. I had been on BC for about 10 years and stopped late March. Every month since April I have been about a week late in getting AF. Finally in August, I had gotten a BFP and called my doc (backstory – I had a perforated appendix when I was a child which left me with scar tissue which could cause me not to get pregnant. When we first decided to try for a baby, my doc said it would be a high risk in getting pregnant and I would have a greater chance of having an ectopic pregnancy. So they recommended as soon as I get a positive to call and get checked). My doc sent me for blood tests and unfortunately it ended up being a chemical pregnancy.
September we really weren’t trying, wanted to take a break but we did again this month. I am curently 10 days late and have taken 2 HPTs, one on day 7 of being late and again this morning and both have come back negative. DH believes that even if I do get a BFP at this point, not to get my hopes up that it will be viable.
At the moment, I am in limbo. Not sure if AF will come or what. I have started looking into more ways to help me track my body and what is going on. I currently only use the Flo app. I was looking into the Ava bracelet and read mixed reviews. I think I might buy an OPK if this month doesn’t work out for me.
Bees- any advice you could offer, or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry that you are in such limbo! Can you get a blood hcg test?
Also, head over the the ttc boards on this site. The ladies are very supportive!

So it sounds like your periods are not normal or back to,being normal since coming off the pill. If you aren’t temping, you can’t really pinpoint when you ovulate with an irregular cycle. I would start there first. Read the book “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” And it should help you learn to temp. Or hop on the TTC boards. They know a ton there too.

hi bee, sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. I definitely think you’d benefit from doing more intensive trackng than just using the Flo app. If your period is “late” and you are getting BFNs, the most likely explanation is that you ovulated later than you think.
I never used Ava but have heard great things about it. If you want a laid back approach to tracking, Ava is probably the way to go. Otherwise, OPks and temping are also good – that’s what I did and it was very easy for me to chart my cycle that way and pinpoint exactly when I ovulated. I found that my ovulation date varied a little from one cycle to the next, but my luteal phase (the part of the cycle after ovulation) was always around the same 13-14 days. As pp mentioned, the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great resource, as are the POAS boards on weddingbee. Good luck!

I would recommend tracking your cycles in an app to start. Not just period, but cervical mucous and OPKS for a few months to get an idea of WHEN you ovulate, make your attemps around those. If no BFP in the first 2-3 cycles, you may want to get the Ava bracelet if you have some disposable cash. It takes the guesswork out of it without the hassle of waking up and taking temps a certain way.
I use fertility friend as my app. I also use Clearblue digital OPKs and Wonfo ovulation strips. I’m 35 and a little high strung so probably overboard.
