Just chiming in to offer my support and commiseration! I’m in the same boat as you minus the married part. I don’t even have that excuse for my weight gain! I shall refer to it as my “happy weight” since my Fiance and I have both gained since we started happily dating. I’ve started being much more careful with what and how much I eat, swapping in healthy grains and protein and avoiding temptations like dessert. I’ve also committed to working out five days a week, no matter what. I feel like my body needs a huge jump start since none of that’s working yet, so I recently added 1-2 days of running into my regimen. I suck at running too and grumble all the way through it, but after a run I feel great and accoplished. I’ve been tracking my runs using an app so I can see how I’m progressing. So far I can only run/walk 3.5 miles and it takes me a pathetic 40-45 minutes, but I’m hoping to get back into 5k running shape. I don’t have any more noble aspirations than that since running really isn’t my thing.

Kwista17:  just wanted to chime in and say that couch to 5k is great! DH and I are about 5 weeks in and we are getting a lot out of it. I find it much easier to keep going when I’m accountable to DH running next to me and the podcast in my ears.

I alternate with swimming which I find very relaxing. Then I’m also trying to stay off the chocolate/biscuits/wine, which are my temptations, during the week, and only enjoy them at weekends.
