I really want my bridesmaids to be comfortable in the dress they are wearing so I plan on setting some guidelines and letting them pick their own. The problem is I am still trying to decide if I want short or long dresses. I’m getting married June 26 so I thought short would be nice but I also like pictures I see of long dresses. Then today I saw an ad in a bridal magazine that had the models in a mixture of short and long dresses. Anyone else done/doing this or seen it before?

I’ve seen it. If there is some consistency in the dresses still (same color or color family, complimentary fabrics, etc.), I think this could look really nice! In my experience people will usually pick shorter dresses if you give them a choice, but who knows?

I haven’t seen it in person, only in magazines. I think you would have to be very careful about the cut and fabric selected, otherwise some will look like they are attending a formal wedding while others will look very casual.

I would be more concerned about making your BMs wear long dresses in June. It could be very warm for them. I went to a wedding in July and the bridesmaids were wearing long dresses. It seemed very out of place. I understand that they are formal and can be very beautiful but i would be conscious of the season.

I’ve only ever seen it in magazines. I think it would look best IRL if the dress has the same/similar bodice.
