I have to second Savannah. We spent a night there last November, and it was sooo cool! Romantic parks to stroll through, great food (The Olde Pink House was AMAZING – http://www.plantersinnsavannah.com/savannah-dining.htm), and just a little spooky to rev up the romance. Priceline got us a great deal on a 4 star hotel for $80/night.
Also, why not try a Disney travel agent to see if they can book within your price range? Something like http://www.smallworldvacations.com/

@beeanon97: you could totally go on a 6+ day carnival cruise out of New Orleans for under $1500.

We might do Charelston, SC. It’s on a beach, has lots of cute B&B and also cheap hotel options, historic and touristy stuff, and we found some cool brewery tours there (a we’re into craft beers and home brewing so that’s a big plus for us). I’m looking into other cheap options but so far that’s my favorite. Plus neither of us have been to that area before.

We did a nice bed & breakfast for a long weekend a few months ago, and it was seriously the most relaxing time of my life. We chose a place in the Ozarks, and just cuddled up in bed, relaxed in the in-room hot tub, ate amazing meals prepared by the old woman the ran the place, and watched movies. We also enjoyed walking the grounds and sitting in the porch swing. 🙂

Honestly you can go on a cruise (depending where you go) for as little as $200 per person and that includes meals and lodging. We went last year and stayed in a small interior room(which was just fine for us) and did 7 days in the caribbean for about $1000 not including spending $$. For our Honeymoon we are doing 5 days in the bahamas and it is CHEAP. we have gone and are going carnival(the bad press doesnt worry us) and expect it to be great!! check out their website!!

We went to Gatlinburg TN for our honeymoon (same type of situation, we didn’t have any money to put towards a honeymoon) and we had a great time! My grandparents paid for us to rent a cabin for a week (around $500) and we hiked in the Smoky Mountains, went to Ripleys Aquarium, had dinner at the Melting Pot, etc. It was simple, it was pretty cheap and it was fun!

I love staycations where you go somewhere you love but stay in a nice hotel. That way you can dedicate all your cash to spluring on a room and activities. Is there a local area you would like to explore more? Since you’re in the South, I would definitely consider New Orleans, it’s so culturally different that it could be considered a vacation.

what about a 5 day cruise? we went and it cost us under 900.00 ; ) check carnivel they have some great deals going on now.

Do a honeymoon registry! We did one with 200 guests. Not everyone contributed (because the idea is relatively new to a lot of our older guests). The registry funds was more than enough to cover our trip. We had a 2 week trip to Southeast Asia.

New Orleans? Atlanta? Austin?
Fiance and I had a great time in New Orleans and I love Atlanta. I would look at Kayak for hotel deals. You can find some great options!

Oh, I hear you. My honeymoon is probably going to be at the Outer Banks, next April. Sounds awesome, right? No, I’m a local and there ain’t shit to do there off-season. The water is too cold, the weather is unpredictable in April so there’s a good chance it’ll be freezing.
I feel you on the ‘lame honeymoon’ part. Go in the 20s boards and you’ll see loads of brides 20-24 going to Jamaica, Bermuda, Aruba, etc. Like, the fuck? How do you afford that? Are your (or his) parents paying for it? My sister’s 20-year-old friend got a sweeeeeeet deal (from her mom) to go to Orlando. My FH’s older brother and his wife got to go on a cruise, coutesy of her parents. And I’m at the fucking beach that I’ve lived right next to for 15 years.
I’d like to go to the mountains, though. That’s pretty affordable.

I also recommend a cruise! But, not a Carnival cruise…way too many f*ck ups on their part lately. You can get a 4-7 day cruise for under $300-600 each easy. Includes everything but your booze and excursions.
P.S. For instance, this 7 day Norwegian cruise that leaves from NOLA on November 10th for $499/person. You can get shorter/cheaper cruises if you leave from Florida. I thought Mobile had a cruise port, but wasn’t able to find it in my searches!

We decided to splurge for our honeymoon because it was something we both really wanted to enjoy, BUT while doing all of our research, we found sooo many inexpensive crusies to tropical islands! They range from $200-$600 ALL INCLUSIVE a person for the really affordable ones and they take you to key West, Cozumel, Bahamas, Bermuda, Virgin Islands… We’re keeping it in mind for future vacations when we need to budget in the future!

Either stay domestic or a short cruise. There’s plenty of places in the US to travel to.
Fiance and I are most likely heading to Disney World for our Honeymoon. But for our anniversary, we’ll planning on a trip to Europe (unless I’m heavily pregnant).
