What car insurance do you have ? I have USAA, and if you a rent a car through them (which worked out great when we traveled to Ireland!! We rented a car through USAA and got a pretty good discount, I think it was with Avis or Hertz but it’s been a couple years) and USAA waived the under-26 fee. I would contact your car insurance company and see if they can do the same.

You will not be able to. You have to be 21 (or 24?) to rent in Ireland, I believe. I went to Ireland at age 20 and we were not able to get a car. Thankfully, Ireland has great public transportation (a nation-wide bus system, trains, and cabs), so you’ll be okay. We went from Limerick to Dublin, and up to Coleraine and back without our own car and it was fine.
