I have sucessfully oxicleaned many an old veil but it really depends on what type of lace it is.

I used Oxiclean, too.  When that didn’t work, I ended up using watered down bleach (which I don’t recommend, but it worked).  My mom’s veil had a huge yellow stain on the lace that I had to fix.

@LissaBell86: you can try the lemon juice first. I make it a habit to try the least risky thing first and gradually work my way up to the most risky thing.
