Just dropped my baby dog Wort at the vet to be neutered, I know its what’s best and that he’ll be fine, but honestly, it was so hard to leave him there. Of course every person came to marvel at my lovely little prince and assured me that it was likely during his 24 hour stay, his feet will never touch the ground.
They were all terribly nice and I know he’s going to be fine, the vet tech popped him into her polar fleece vest and said, “That’s where he’ll stay today.”
And she’ll call as soon as he wakes up from the surgery, but I still hate it.
And I hate that he’s got to stay overnight to be monitored because he is so very small…
I’m going to miss him tonight, curled up in my side, snoring like a lumberjack….

@Nona99: You’re a good mommy <3 I had to leave our dog at the vet for 3 days because of his seizures, and I was a wreck. I had a wedding to go to, and I just was not forcused on anything other than the fact that my putz was going to have to be at the vet, caged, IVs, but also well taken care of. It didn’t matter. I was still worried sick and visited him often.
Pets are like family. I love animals more than humans.

@Nona99: I had to leave little dude at a new vet hospital for several days when he got sick the day before my business trip to Japan (I know you didn’t want me to leave, buddy, but there were cheaper ways to communicate that fact…). I teared up when I dropped him off and the vet tech actually LAUGHED AT ME (behind my back) for being ‘so concerned about a pit bull.’ Um, that’s my canine BFF, and you’re damn right I’m going to worry about him when I’m on the other side of the world for three days! So, it sounds like you at least have nicer caregivers, but even so, you’re totally within your right as a responsible pet guardian to be sad/worried. I’m sure Wort will do great, and totally won’t even miss those nuts 😛
