my first child was conceived the first week we tried-had only been on aygestin before. I was on the pill until a month ago-lybrel-which doesnt give periods (withdrawal bleeding). I had cramping, bloating and smell sensitivity for the last two weeks, then i got my period-or what seems like my period. it was very light the first day, got a little heavier yesterday and a little heavier today. we will try again in a week from tomorrow but I wonder A)was this a period B) if my ovulating will be regular C)what the symptoms will be other than a missed period when i actually am pregnant. with my first child i waiting until day 40 to take the test because i had really long cycles in the past.

To answer all your questions, I’m really not sure. :/ Have you talked to your doctor about all this? From personal experience it’s not at all uncommon to experience weird hormonal symptoms during the first few months off the pill. I’m going through a lot of that this month as well, time will only tell if I’m pregnant or these are simply imbalances from being off the pill. 🙁 Sorry I can’t be of much help. Considering your cycles are generally very long, it seems the only thing to do would be to sit tight and wait. Hopefully you’ll get your BFP or at least have more regular cycles in the future. Chances are you may just be experiencing the horrible time when your body is trying to regulate itself after being on BC. Maybe now would be a good time to start charting your temperatures and looking for any other signs you may be pregnant instead of just going through hormonal changes.
Birth control for 3+ years messed me up big time. I’m experiencing a lot of pregnancy symptoms but there’s really no way to tell until I miss my period and take a test around that time. It really stinks!

@gootl: sorry I don’t really have much advice but being on the pill has messed my cycle up!
I came off 3 months ago and am only half way through my 2nd cycle! My first cycle off BCP was 49 days and it looks like this one is shaping up to be the same 🙁 Definitely the waiting game for me.
