almondsyrup :  yep it’s definitely possible! I had a positive OPK the cycle after my miscarriage but we were having a rest cycle for that one so just took note. My advice would be maybe to relax for this cycle and not pin too much hope on it as it’s difficult to know what’s going on the first cycle after miscarriage, though it would be great if it did happen!

Roll call: 30/34 baby #1

Status (MC cycle/rest cycle/TTC cycle): TTC cycle

MC History: DH and I were NTNP since August 2016.  I found out I was pregnant in December, but unfortunately started spotting a week later, and miscarried a few days after that.

Issues (if any): None that I know of. I had pretty regular cycles before my MC and then it took 7 weeks for AF to show up afterward. This is my first cycle following my MC in December, so I’m not goi

Action Plan for next TTC cycle (ie Baby Aspirin, progesterone, etc): I just track my cycle with the Ovia app.  I haven’t tried temping or anything like that yet.  I take prenatals and exercise regularly.

What are your biggest challenges right now? Right now its mostly work related.  I’ve been at my current job for 7 months, and I’m not super happy there.  The job itself is okay, but I work with older adults currently, and I’m much happier when I’m working with kids. I’m keeping my eyes open for other jobs, BUT my current job does have a lot of benefits when it comes to having a family.  I work flexible hours and am generally only out of the house 6-7 hours, then I’m able to finish up work at home later in the evening.  I also might have the opportunity to cut back my hours when I have a baby (maybe only work Mon/Wed/Fri) whereas the other job has set hours and not as much flexibility with cutting back hours…but I would have summers off. Luckily, I have some time to think it through, and knowing me I’ll over analyze it to death.

Current coping strategies/favorite inspirational quotes: I’m just trying to take care of my body and appreciate what I already have instead of focusing on what I don’t have in my life yet.

Just for fun: Any New Year resolutions? Trying to get out of debt and save as much money as we can

almondsyrup :  You never know how your body will react after a loss – some people reset immediately and some take a cycle to reset. It’s not uncommon to have an anovulatory or wonky cycle after a loss. As for the OPK, you can definitely get a positive OPK, a string of days with positive OPKs, and still not ovulate. The OPK just tests for the luteinizing hormone and can pinpoint when that hormone surges and peaks, but it doesn’t guarantee that you have an egg release at the end of it. I’ve experienced this myself and have seen lots of other women on the boards experience the same thing. Sometimes your body builds itself up to O but just drops it for one reason or another – stress, illness, antibiotics, other meds. A lot of women with PCOS experience this in long cycles too, where you get a positive OPK a few times through the cycle before you O, or in an anovulatory cycle. Did you ever end up getting your ovulation cramps?

mrsatoz :  I’m sorry for your loss XOX That’s quite the decision – comfort and stability over job satisfaction? That’s tough!

I’m CD23 today and think today is O-day. DH is adjusting to being back on his anti-anxiety meds after he decided to go off them cold turkey a few weeks ago. He only went back on them on Friday and they affect his performance in the first couple of weeks of starting them, until his body adjusts, so it looks like we’ll only have O-2, O-4 & O-5 in the window this cycle. I think he’s more upset about that than I am though – I’m glad to be TTC again but I’m also terrified of the pain and fear pregnancy opens you up to once you’ve suffered a loss. We’ll find out how cool I am with it when AF arrives though πŸ˜‰

Happy Thursday, Ladies! Countdown for the weekend is on – woot!

MrsPuddingface :  I’m not really convinced that I ovulated. I still don’t know if what I had counted as spotting or a light period, who knows. I’m also embarrassed to say that I’m a HUGE idiot and had been reading my opks wrong for the past 2 weeks. They were actually all super positives, not negatives. I think because the test line was darker than the control line I kept thinking the control was the test line. I then took an hpt yesterday to see if i still had hcg in my system and it was positive, light but definitely not a squinter. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. We were tta, but if I actually did o then we definitely hit the fertile window twice. Oops.

O-2 is still good! Good luck this cycle!!

MrsPuddingface :  I don’t think I did. I had some twinges, but the past few months I’ve really been able to pinpoint my ovulation and which side the egg was released from. The OPKs got dark and then started to slowly get lighter. I started my progesterone yesterday and I’m already super naseous. I can’t wait until this TWW is over.
O-2 is awesome, though!

What are your biggest challenges right now? Worrying about if I’ll be able to get pregnant again. Hoping the MC didn’t mess up my cycles completely.

sheclicksherheels :  I’m sorry that you’re hear, but welcome.  I also had a blighted ovum at 8.5 weeks.  Really sucks doesn’t it!?  πŸ™  Mine was on 11/29 and had my first AF about 6 weeks after on 1/12….People always ask how long it was until if came back so I thought I’d let you know for me.

On a side note, sitting at CD 43 today, woo eff’ing hoo!  I had a positive clearblue and opk on CD 22, but obviously I never ovulated.  Randomly took an OPK on CD 30 and it was very positive, so maybe I ovulated then!?  Who knows…What I do know is that I took a HPT today and it was a BFN.  For both of my other BFP’s, I didn’t get them till a day or two after AF was missed.  That being said, I don’t really know if or when I did ovulate so I’ll just sit and wait.

Question for you guys, I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday, can I ask him for something to jump start my period?  Or what if I ovulated let’s say just 4 days ago (just a random day I chose), and you do take something to jump start your period (obviously you wouldn’t know by then if you’re pregnant), does that just ruin your chance of getting pregnant with that egg?  Hopefully that makes sense with how I’m asking.

bosley2016 :  Thanks for the welcome, and it really does suck. I’m sorry you had to go through it too. Thanks for letting me know about when your cycle returned. I’ve been pretty curious about it. The last few days I’ve been getting lots of ewcm and today I had a positive opk (negative the last 2 days), so I’m hoping that means that I’m going to continue to ovulate without medication. I needed femara to get pregnant with my son, but after my cycle returned after having him, I’ve ovulated pretty regularly. Just hoping the MC didn’t mess things up. I’m sorry to hear that you’re in limbo. It’s so awful and I completely understand how frustrating it is. Do you chart at all? That combined with OPKs usually gives me a good idea about when/if I ovulated. If you go to the doctor, maybe ask to get an ultrasound done to see if you’ve ovulated, and if not, then ask him if he can give you something to induce af. Good luck to you. I hope you can figure out where you’re at in your cycle soon.

MrsPuddingface :  Thank you πŸ™‚

I hope your husnad’s adjustment goes smoothly, and it sounds like he’s got a really caring and supportive partner in you. Good news that you’re TTC again. πŸ™‚

We had our Perinatal Loss appointment the other day. They didn’t find anything medically wrong in my tests or the post mortem. It was just very bad luck that infection and labour set in. If I get pregnant again I will be monitored every couple of week, will be taking progesterone and depending on the measurement of cervix in week 12 they will condider whether a cerclage is a good idea. My work will not like the frequent appointments, if I get PG again, but not much to do about that!

MrsPuddingface :  ha I love that meme! Not good knickers wise.. pink spotting yesterday and then red last night…. brown this morning so not a clue what’s going on. Resigned myself to the fact that it’s happening all over again so this will be loss 3 out of 3 tries πŸ™

kiraly17 :  I’m sorry πŸ™ Looks like you’re still dealing with hormones regulating and the HCG leaving your system. I don’t think your body will truly reset until your HCG hits zero. How long ago was your D&C?

View original reply
almondsyrup :  Thanks, hon πŸ™‚ O-2 is actually a prime day, I guess I’m just a little more bummed about not getting more chances in the window than I thought. FX you really did O and the progesterone supps aren’t for nothing XOXOX GL!

sheclicksherheels :  I’m so sorry – FX your cycle resets quickly! XO

bosley2016 :  I’d ask your doc to do bloodwork to check progesterone levels to see if you’ve ovulated recently. If it comes back looking like you haven’t then I’d definitely request a reset – they’ll give you provera, which is basically progesterone, and you take it for a few days before stopping. It works by faking your body into thinking it’s in the LP, then causing a progesterone withdrawal bleed once it leaves your system (which is usually the start of menses in a normal cycle). Thanks hon – I know it’s good, I was just hoping for the best I guess, and being a whiney you-know-what πŸ˜‰

Bunnyang :  I’m sorry you didn’t get an explanation other than it just being bad luck. It’s sometimes harder if you don’t know the WHY of it all. How’s your husband handling it all? Are you getting a lot of support from family? I’m glad they’ll be monitoring you very closely in the future – that may be comforting when you get pregnant again and that fear starts to set in. XO

How was everyone’s weekends? I’m beat today – shouldn’t have stayed up so late watching the Oscars, then Girls, then Walking Dead lol I wore a flannel shirt to work so I can still feel like I’m wearing jammies.  4DPO and feeling….nothing yet, other than the usual sore/tender boobs I get in my LP that confirms ovulation. Hopefully we’re slow today and I can get away with slacking with LaineyGossip’s Oscar articles, and listening to my 90s YouTube playlist πŸ˜€

MrsPuddingface :  So AF finally showed on CD 46.  I have an appointment on Wednesday, do you think I should still ask for them to check my progesterone?

I didn’t catch the Oscars but I’ve read all the reviews, meme’s, and fashion articles today.  Everybody is talking about them so I wish I wouldn’ve watched now.  Oh well.  I attempted to watch Manchester by the Sea but I fell asleep.  I’m terrible at watching movies at home.  Did you see any of the nominates movies?
