This sounds like me last year. I came off the pill after 12 years a few months before we wanted to start trying.  My cycles were 29-40 days long and my “periods” were nothing more than a couple of days of spotting.  I was also worried that my lining wasn’t building up enough for the fertilized egg to implant. Before the pill I had very long and very heavy periods.  However, with less than optimal timing the whole time we were trying, we conceived on the 3rd month trying.  In other words, don’t borrow trouble.  It’s definitely possible to get pregnant with very light and irregular periods.

I went off the pill last month, had my withdrawal bleed and it’s 37 days later with no period in sight yet. I was hoping to start TTC in August. Never thought i’d be wishing for my period!

There’s hope. You just have to be patient. I got off the pill last January after about 13/14 years. Had a couple of months with a regular cycle. Then they started getting weird with my longest being 108 days. Darling Husband and I started seriously trying after our October wedding. Cycles ranged from 25 days to 45 days and some periods were short, like 2 days and some spotting. I’m now about 11 weeks pregnant.

KHogan:  Just an update following my earlier post. Despite my wacky cycle this month I got a BFP! I’ve included below a copy of my chart. I think definitely go and get some OPKs (I use the One Step strips from Amazon and have never had a problem with them) and test ALL month. When you see more fertile CM or think the line is getting darker then test twice per day (or twice per day all month). When you get a positive, BD for three days straight, miss one day, and then BD again (which is effectively part of the SMEP). I couldn’t follow SMEP all this month as Darling Husband has been working away a lot but it seemed to have worked for me in the end!! Good luck and FX for your next cycle. I’m just hoping now that this baby sticks!!
