I am on month 7 of TTC. My cycles have been regular since quitting BC, but this month…is a disaster. I track BBT with Glow (and am starting to use FF again). Glow says I ovulated 8/5. FF says I ovulated 8/14. My temp dropped Monday, but I haven’t gotten my period yet (usually I get it the same day my temp drops). I am a hormonal disaster….crying if my cat looks at me funny! I took a HPT today just in case – negative – which I was pretty sure of anyway since my temps dropped.
I don’t think I’m cut out for this emotional rollercoaster of TTC. My doctor will not do any fertility testing since it’s only been 7 months. I saw her a few weeks ago and she did do a metabolic panel to test for PCOS but said it was normal. I think I just want my body to work like it’s supposed to, for once, like, ever.
Sorry for venting. I don’t really have any girl friends to discuss with as I don’t want to discuss TTC with anyone but husband and doctor, so we’re very alone in this, and those that do know are not familiar with TTC so don’t really have anything useful to say.

antisocialite: I’m really sorry you’re feeling that way. I made a similar post on cycle 7. I think it’s particularily hard because nobody expects it to take that long. There are a couple of tests I think you should push your doc to do at this point. If you haven’t recently, I’d ask to do your full bloods including thyroid. I’d also ask for day 3 & day 21 hormones just to make sure all is correct. This is not difficult or expensive to do. If you’re over 30 I’d suggest you get your AMH (egg age or ovarian reserve) checked, only because, if this is a problem it’s urgent, and I’ve a friend who found out at 31 that it was almost zero. At 7 cycles trying I’d assume insurance wouldn’t cover this so youd have to decide if it’s urgent. You could also get you OH to do a semen analysis as it’s also simple enough. There’s a 6 month + thread (don’t know if you’ve been on it) with some lovely ladies that are very supportive if you’d like to check it out. Best of luck!!!

phoebephoebo: Thanks. I also remembered she tested FSH which was also normal, though I’ve read it’s not as accurate as the test you mentioned. I know everyone says a year is normal, but I don’t know why the docs don’t test for basic fertility issues from the get go.
Still waiting for my period. If I’m not pregnant, I’d at least like the new cycle to start and get on with it!
This seems far more supportive than theBump so I’m glad to see that. Thanks for responding!

I too am very suprised at how stressful TTC is just two cycles in. I thought it would be all fun but waiting to test is really emotional and disappointing. What makes it worse is seeing how so many people seem to have it so easy. I am currently irrationally angry with Jill Dillard (Dugger) for getting pregnant days after she was married..

Purplelicious: Everyone on these boards is mad at her, lol. i just think, that poor girl, for so many reasons…
OP, I feel your stress. I am on cycle 6, and yesterday after some less-good news at work, I got totally overwhelmed and broke down crying to Darling Husband about why everything has to be a hard uphill battle. It sucks big time.
Speaking of uphill, you must be your own advocate. If you want testing, push your doctor or switch to a different one. You have to be comfortable with the level of healthcare you’re getting. I was diagnosed with mild PCOS in January, so we started conservative treatment steps immediately, and if I need more treatment or testing, my doc said we will do it whenever I am ready.

Purplelicious: I am with you on the Jill Duggar situation. Great news for her but it made me feel like something is really wrong with me after trying for almost 1 year! beginners luck!
