Has this happened to you before…? Might be Too Much Information but this has never happened to me so I’m curious…
My husband and I are only on our second cycle of TTC, so still new to this and not sure what to expect. I have normal cycles, typically every 28 days. I’m not charting or anything like that, I normally feel my ovulation symptoms and keep an eye on my CM and that’s how we’ve been going through the TTC process.
So right now I’m pretty sure I’m on ovulation day (have the cramping symptoms that I normally have, etc). My husband and I BD’d on Saturday & Sunday (both in the morning). On Saturday night, I noticed when I wiped that I was bleeding– not fresh looking, but brown. I thought– well maybe it’s still left over from my period…? So we BD’d again Sunday morning– everything was fine yesterday. This morning I noticed when I wiped- I had tons of CM and it was mixed in with brown– I’m guess older blood? Wiped again and there was a spot of red.
In over 13 years of having my period, I have never spotted in the middle of my cycle– has this happened to anyone who is TTC? Are the two related?

@hearts348: There’s quite a bit that could be going on… First, did you recently come off of birth control? Sometimes hormones regulating can effect your “normal” cycle. Since birth control doesn’t really give you a true idea of what your body’s normal cycle is.
Also, changes in progesterone can cause bleeding through the cycle.
Sometimes during sex he can hit your cervix and irritate it causing bleeding.
Yes, ovulation can cause bleeding. As well as cysts.
Just some possibilities. It seems no matter how “regular” we’ve been, as soon as we start TTC our bodies act up!!
Good luck to you!

@CocoLoco523: I did not come off BC– I haven’t been on it in probably 6 or 7 years. I’ve experienced very painful cysts that burst in the past so I know what those feel like and I don’t have them right now. Sounds like TTC confuses our bodies and makes strange things happen 🙂

@hearts348: Oh good to know. Well hopefully it’s just ovulation bleeding and you guys had perfect timing! 🙂

@hearts348: This happened to me this cycle actually…but I had brown/red spotting for about a week. But I never ovulated (No positive OPKs and no thermal shift in BBT). Now I have spotting again but I’m pretty sure its AF starting. I also have long cycle – think 45+ days.
As long as it only happens for a few days then it probably is just ovulation bleeding!

@hearts348: i never spotted until i started TTC either and i had perfect 28 days cycles. TTC caused everything to go wonky for me.
after the 2nd cycle, i called my gyn. last month she suggested i get my progesterone levels tested, they were super low. this month she wants me to come back and i am going today.
then we will see what the next step to take is.
good luck and i hope you figure it out or get a BFP.

@CocoLoco523: So is bleeding a good sign that we got the timing right? Hopefully? 🙂
@ajillity81: Hmm what happens if your progesterone levels stay low? I wonder if that might be something that’s happening with me, too. I have an appointment next month for a pap anyways so I guess I’ll bombard them with questions. Good luck in your appointment today!

@hearts348: low progesterone means that it is not a good environment to make and maintain a pregnancy. if i am confirmed low again, i will have to go on some kind of supplement or something. i will know tomorrow (hopefully DR will call first thing). then we will talk about the next steps.

@hearts348: I came off BC in November – I had mid-cycle bleeding/spotting for my December and January cycles, right around ovulation time. Unfortunately, it also freaked out my Darling Husband, so we couldn’t.. umm… “complete” the BD during that time. I’m hoping our other timing was good enough this month though!
@ajillity81: Yikes, I guess if I get a BFN this month, maybe I should get my progesterone checked too…
