So my husband and I are on our second month of TTC and we’re super excited. This is my 15th cycle of FAM and I absolutely love charting and knowing my body better. My cycles usually range from 26 to 30 days. I usually ovulate around day 18 or so but this month I did’t ovulate until day 24/25. I’m now 7-8 DPO and a few days ago I noticed my breasts (nipples) were really tender. I NEVER get sore breasts, not even on my period. I usually never have any symptoms of getting a period. The only way I would know when I was going to start was because I’m charting. Now my breasts are so tender that its not comfortable to lay on my stomache or if I even brush my hand across them. Almost like a stinging sensation…Has anyone ever had this happen as an early pregnancy symptom?

yes, that was one of my symptoms. i used to get breast tenderness before i’d start my period, but then it stopped for a long time, so when it seemed to be starting again, i was like, “what? that’s weird, but whatever.” but nope, i wasn’t starting my period, i was pregnant. and my boobs were killing me. i was like, “they’re so small. how can they hurt this much?” haha. i used to wear padded bras to bed so that i could lay comfortably on my stomach. oh and they had also gotten bigger. that, i didn’t mind so much, lol.

I don’t want to get your hopes up, but tender nipples were my first symptom.

Thanks for the replies! It’s just really unusual for me to have tender breasts. I’m only a size 34A and I never have felt sore like this before. I’ve also had trouble sleeping good a few nights in a row. I’m normally a good sleeper but I just can’t get comfortable at all. Could be from the tenderness I guess.

Tender/heavy breasts has also been one of my first symptoms both times I got a BFP—that and a heighened sense of smell. Good luck, I hope you get your BFP!

taKtical525: I’ve been TTC for well over a year and in that time been pregnant twice. Both times nipple tenderness was an early symptom. HOWEVER, I also had that symptom a couple of months I wasn’t KU- All I’m saying is, your body tries to F with you as soon as you start to TTC!! So be careful about getting too excited.

I’ve had that both with pregnancy cycles and with non-pregnancy cycles so it could go either way. Good luck!

I never ever had breast tenderness near periods of anything, but had it pretty bad for about two weeks and I thought I was pregnant since it was soo unusual, but two weeks late my period came, so which it’s exciting and very well could be, it doesn’t always mean that.

Breast tenderness is first caused by progesterone and then HCG, and unfortunatly right now it’s too early to tell which. I get sore boobs right before AF, but sometimes after ovulation, and I haven’t been pregnant (yet). Health-wise, you can be confident you have lots of progesterone and hopefully a long enough luteal phase to sustain a pregnancy, but as I have sadly learned, just sore boobs are not always an instant BFP.

I never noticed breast tenderness before my period until I started TTC. It got my hopes up every month, only to be a let-down each month when AF appeared. I did notice breast tenderness when I finally became pregnant, (over two years after we started trying), but it wasn’t any different than my normal pre-period breast tenderness. A lot of women say it feels different, but for me, it was the same as always. In fact, I didn’t test until a couple days after my missed period, because I felt exactly like AF was coming.

Good luck!
