keikochan :  the problem with saying you’ve been trying a year is if she had a birth control prescription or had an IUD or implant removed – her insurance would catch her lying.

DoubleD :  Ah. You didn’t say that in your post. That’s great. My point was just that both of your tests could come back with nothing wrong and you still have issues due to unexplained infertility. Obviously, I hope that’s not the case, but that’s the situation my husband and I are in. I would not worry yet, especially if you get the SA done and it comes back normal!

DoubleD :  did you use condoms? Our doctor didn’t count NFP as really preventing (since it’s so easy to screw up). So as long as we sometimes had sex without a condom he counted it as “trying”. Just something to keep in mind in terms of timing any testing.

DoubleD :  my doctor didn’t count pulling out as valid birth control either. You can check with your doctor on their opinion, but they may consider that good enough for insurance to cover some basic testing if you want. The bee makes is seem like if you aren’t temping daily and peeing on OPKs nonstop that you aren’t really “trying” but all of the doctors I saw said so long as you had sex they counted it lol.
