Kacie209:  How long are your cycles? The “14 day” rule is more of a guideline than a rule for everyone. I have a 26-27 day cycle and sometimes I O on CD 11, 12 or 13. It just depends.

If I were you, and if you’re not planning on using any OPKs, I would BD the days leading up to CD 14 (ED or EOD) and through CD 16 just to be sure. I would definitely recommend OPKs though.

Kacie209:  Welcome to TTC! 🙂  You could start temping the first day of your cycle, but you don’t have to. I usually start the last day or the day after my period. Always in the morning, RIGHT when you wake up. Dont even get out of bed, and dont move too much. lol.

As for ovulation, it cant be anywhere from 9-139895 days from the first day of your period, it just depends on your cycle. The average is 14 days though. Mine has been on day 13, and then the next cycle it was on day 17.

Have you thought about using OPKs (ovulation predictor kits)? Basically, you pee on a stick and it tells you if you are super close to ovulation (within 12-24 hours!)…which is the best time to BD.

1) You count the first day of bright red flow as CD1. You can start charting CD2 though, it won’t make a huge difference. You just need a solid 10-12 days so you can recognize the temp rise at ovulation.

2) Theoretically yes, CD14 would be probably the earliest time you’d ovulate, but not necessarily. Especially since you’re just coming off BCP it’s pretty likely your cycles will be out of whack. I know when I came off my first cycle was perfect 28 day one, but the second was 21. The only way to know for sure is to temp.

Kacie209:  OPK’s can be expensive if you buy them in the store. A lot of Bee’s (including myself) buy the Wondfo brand off Amazon. You get a lot for a little money. But there are a lot of counterfeits out there as well, so its hard to tell.

Kacie209:  Wondfo is definitely the way to go for OPKs like MissKayteeDee:  said. There is a thread on here somewhere talking about how to recognize and avoid the counterfeit Wondfos.

Best of luck to you on the BDing!

Kacie209:  If you were on birth control, you don’t know how long your cycles will be.  BCP regulates your cycles, but your own cycles may be different.

You can start charting on CD2 if you want, it won’t matter.  You just want a good chunk of temps before you ovulate so you can see the temp shift.

CD1 will be the first day of your period (red flow, not just old spotting).  CD14 as ovulation day is just a guess, some people ovulate earlier (CD11 and some later than 14).  I usually ovulate around CD 16 or 17.

Yes you can start tracking today, I never temped during my period as the hormone fluctuations threw things off sometimes. I ovulate day 17-19 so day 14 would never work for me. I suggest monitor cervical fluid and whine you see that (watery, egg white) then bd!
