TTC-friendly lube

Honestly, I gave up my quest of semen-friendly lube about 6 months in. The natural options didn’t work super well, and the Preseed was ATROCIOUS (how is it lube if it’s tacky to the touch???). We ended up getting an all-natural, organic brand of regular lube and just not over-doing it. I also started using softdiscs after sex, and the 2 months we did that, we got pregnant (and it took 9 months so it’s not like we were fertile myrtles!).

Honestly, I tried PreSeed. I didn’t have the issues others did, but it didn’t matter. I didn’t get pregnant until my body made it’s own fertile CM. I still remember the day I got the most textbook EWCM. We DTD that night and that’s how my first son was conceived. We tried for 11 months.

My second soon took 22 months. I wasn’t paying as close attention to my EWCM that time, but can say that it didn’t much matter if we used lube or not, because I have irregular cycles and once very few years I regulate for about 4 months and that’s when I get pregnant.

Come to think of it… I was also taking guaifenesin (Mucinex) around that time, too. Some people say that helps with creating fertile CM.

I loved preseed, and got pregnant the first cycle trying it after 6 months of tracking my ovulation with strips and still failing.

@futuremrsebc:  Yes, same. I was having issues with that as well. I think that’s why the Mucinex also helped me. It thins ALL mucous in the body…

@futuremrsebc:  I’ve had the same struggles, and the combination of mucinex (I took it a few hours pre-sex) and organic NORMAL lube worked like a charm.

We use KY jelly and got pregnant while using it twice. We tried preseed with our first but ended up needing IVF. These last two have been naturally conceived and the lube type didn’t seem to matter. I did some research into sperm friendly lubes but found research suggesting that if you are only using it as regular lube and not a fertility aid like preseed that there didn’t seem to be any negative effects on sperm. So go with what you like!

@coffeeeee:  I got pregnant on our first cycle of using Preseed after 8 months of trying so it will always be special to me LOL.

Then again, my body was regulating after coming off BC so I had seen a significant improvement in my EWCM so that probably helped a lot too.

@futuremrsebc:  I used Preseed and it didn’t help me get conceive any faster (which I know isn’t your question but just putting that out there since some people are hoping that it will do that and in my case it didn’t). That being said, if your body isn’t producing enough lubricant Preseed will not fight the sperm or make it more difficult for them to work their way to your egg. It should have a neutral effect. Another poster mentioned the texture can be a bit tacky and I noticed that too. I felt like I had to use a lot of it to avoid that issue. In the end, I didn’t actually NEED preseed because I was getting enough natural lubrication and I just wanted to try it out as an experiment to see if it would speed up my time to conception.

@futuremrsebc:  I tend to be a little on the dry side as well and just went with preseed – less for the benefits it says it has but more becuase I knew if it was MEANT to try and help get you pregnant it probably wasn’t going to hurt.

I used about half of what the instructions told you to and I would insert it way up about 10-15 minutes prior to DTD and I didn’t have any complaints on the consistency as I’ve heard from others. The fact that I would use it early made it warm up to a normal body temp and probably helped the consistency a bit as well.

I only used preseed that last cycle when I got pregnant (now almost 23 weeks) and I’m in NO way saying preseed was what did the trick. What did the trick was that I finally actually ovulated. But at least it goes to show that you definitely can get pregnant using it!

Good luck!! 🙂
