sarathemermaid :  it didn’t actually help us get pregnant but Preseed lube is awesome. For us it is just a really good lube BUT I know plenty of other people it has helped.

Temping was the only thing that helped me. Could be coincidence but if we ever have another I will start temping right away.

sarathemermaid :  YAY! TTC is fun, but stressful, be warned. Here are some things I learned.

1. get Ovulation test strips on Amazon, I got the Wondfo kind that came with some pregnancy tests as well.

1a. I actually never got a positive ovulation test on the cycle we concieved, so they arent a for sure thing.

2. Lay down for a bit after BD. I dont know if it actually work, but the first cycle we did it we got our BFP.

3. BD every day if you can during your fertile window. That is what worked best for us. It may be different for you though!

4. Don’t symptom spot! You can drive yourself insane. I didnt have any crazy weird symptoms when I had my BFP, just some normal period symptoms but period never came.

5. Enjoy all the things you cant have when youre pregnant now! Now that I am pregnant I wish I had indulged in the drinks I wanted, eaten one last piece of sushi or mid rare steak…..OH MAN NOW I WANT THAT EVEN MORE!

6. Try to enjoy TTC. Don’t get discouraged if it doesnt happen the first time. Dont get discouraged if you think you didnt time it right that cycle (thats when I got my BFP!).

7. Try to hold off testing until the day your period is due. I know its hard, but I hated squinting at tests going, is that a line? Maybe? Also join the POAS boards. They are a great support group.

Good luck and lots of baby dust!!!

I can’t say for sure what was super helpful for us, because we just got our BFP on the first cycle of trying! I will say that temping really helped me understand my body and cycle. My OB recommended that I start taking prenatals prior to trying, so that might be something to consider. Download an app or 2 to help you track your cycle and join the POAS boards- having others to vent to and ask questions is an invaluable resource. Good luck!

I used a $10 basal body thermometer from CVS that held up with daily use for six months til I got my BFP. And Clinical Guard brand OPKs and pregnancy tests off Amazon – cheap and reliable. If you’re an obsessive type then I recommend temping and OPK right off the bat…otherwise I wouldn’t bother and would just try to have sex every other day or so throughout your cycle. Good luck!

You’ve got some great advice thus far, so I won’t repeat anything above.  The only advice I am going to give is that it takes a normal healthy couple and average of 12 months to conceive. I’m not trying to be a downer- you may get pregnant first shot!   It it can get very discouraging when it doesn’t happen right away, but remember its normal.  Make sure you are still living your life, taking vacations, making plans etc.  Remeber BDing is supposed to be fun and romantic and spontaneous- make an active effort to not make it a chore especially if/when your are temping and using opks.  It can be very easy to lose yourself in TTC.

We got a BFP on the first cycle of trying. I started folic acid 2 months before conceiving, and BD a couple of days before, during an after ovulation according to my apps. But my period is very regular!

sarathemermaid :  If you want to know your ovulation date I recommend learning the Marquette Method of NFP (Google it). That’s what I’m using to TTC. Good luck!

sarathemermaid :  I know plenty of people who got pregnant their first shot with just having lots of sex. I also know plenty of people who took longer. I would start there if you’re one to overly stress and then start doing more if it doesn’t work in a couple months.

I would recommend buying a copy of “taking charge of your fertility”. We aren’t TTC right now, I actually bought to read before trying FAM contraception.
It goes over basically every aspect of fertility, from TTC to contraception, from temping, opks, charting, cervical mucus/fluid, marquette’s etc, and is well written clear and concise. I learned a lot from reading it.

Preseed and softcups after DTD got the job done for us on the first cycle 🙃 also 600mg coenzymeQ10/day 3 months before TTC for optimal egg health seemed to make this baby stick! GL
