Everything I read is that KY really is that bad an idea. Why risk it if there is an alternative.

I am currently seeing a fertility specialist for a couple reasons, and they highly recommend not using regular lube such as KY, or even saliva. I mean in SMALL amounts, you’re probably not going to do much harm. I am certainly not adverse to giving my Darling Husband a BJ and then having sex while TTC… I mean I honestly would much rather continue to enjoy the sex while TTC than cutting out all the fun stuff lol.

In saying that, my clinic does recommend sperm friendly lube while TTC. Pre-seed has been great for us, and there are some others out there that are supposed to be good too. Worth a shot if you are interested, but I can see why people just use the regular stuff. Plus, I think there are a LOT of babies born out there with parents who used good ol’ KY 😉

Totally up to you, but if you want to give yourself the best odds of getting your BFP, try something like pre-seed and see what you think.

Good luck!

@birdie724:  I would suggest pre seed or something of the like. I have also read a ton of times that normal lube is not a safe environment and can actually kill the sperm.

My doctor strongly recommended not to use any kind of lube, but pre-seed.

SOME drug stores will have sperm friendly type, in the lube section. It’s usually only 1 brand, and it can be more expensive. Usually not in an “out there” location on the shelf, typcially buried lol. You can try your biggest pharmacy with the reg lube or look in the section with the pregnancy tests, sometimes they hide it there. Worst case, ask the pharmacist.

I order my preseed from http://www.early-pregnancy-test.com and it usualyl takes about a week to come in.

And… no such thing as Too Much Information on these boards 😉 Good luck!

I buy mine at CVS. But there is only one CVS near me that sells it. You might have to go into several to find it. You can also order it from Amazon

@birdie724:  I bought mine at Walgreens.  If you check their website, they advertise there that Walgreens carries it.

I bought mine at Target. I haven’t checked anywhere else, so I can’t say what drugstores have in my area. DO NOT just use any type of lube though. It’s better to go without and wait for your pre-seed to arrive (if you have to order it) than to undo all your hard work by using regular lube.

I purchased mine at CVS, but I’ve seen it at Target for slightly ($1) cheaper. It is expensive, but it is hands down the best lube I ever used and will continue to use it after TTC.

If you have an amazon prime membership it qualifies for free 2 day shipping.  I bought conceive plus instead of pre-seed after reading reviews.  I thought it worked great but I would caution you not to use too much at once.  A little bit goes a long way. Also, you can still use KY when you are not in your fertile window.  I think the sperm-friendly lubes are a bit pricier so that may help.

I asked at the pharmacy counter for it and they were able to bring it in the next day for me
