I haven’t heard about oral sex being avoided, but I have read that saliva as a lubricant can kill the sperm. I’m gonna subscribe to this topic!

I was told by my doc at my pre-conception appointment (my docs a rockstar to discuss all this with me) to avoid anything involving saliva during your ovulation window.  It’s all good pre-O, and towards the end of the TWW, but to be avoided as there’s bacteria in saliva which can kill sperm or cause infections in the vag.  So avoid oral on either of you.

Also be careful as lubricants can also kill sperm- was told to avoid most lubes as they aren’t TTC friendly.   I used Pre-seed (just a little, not the full recommended amount) and got my bfp 🙂  Though, talk to the awesome ladies in the POAS boards- some people like Pre-seed, some got infections with Pre-seed, and others prefer Yes, Baby.

@NJmeetsBX:  Saliva is not sperm friendly. But we still do oral…there have been far too many people that have gotten pregnant from intercourse after oral for me to think that it will inhibit my chances THAT much. I do, however, try to limit it during my fertile window.

i don’t believe it. Maybe if he hocked several loogies into your cooch there might be some reduced chance of conception. But there is just too little saliva involved, especially saliva that comes into contact with sperm.

I read some crazy thing about women who swallow or have sex without a condom with the father well before actually conceiving having a lower chance of preeclampsia. Might be woo-woo though. (Just saying oral sex might not be so bad if you aren’t ovulating at the time!)

@CuriousOne:  LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVELY visual. I spent hours on the intamacy boards today (I dk why) and that was by far the best thing I’ve read all day. Bhahahahahahah.

And it’s exactly how I feel about it too.

Hey you gotta keep things lively after almost a year of timed intercourse…lol.

@CuriousOne:  LMAO your comment made my day.

I agree that this is a ridiculous concept. Saliva/oral sex has absolutely ZERO affect on TTC. Who comes up with this stuff, honestly? I think people get so wrapped up in TTC that all fun and pleasure goes out the window and they become obsessed with TTC that they make up these crazy ideas, this one being one of them.

Well… we’ve been TTC since last August, and let’s just say… a BJ was on DH’s Christmas list last year AND this year.

I have super irregular cycles, so with the exception of shark week, we like to make sure the swimmers are only being used for potential baby making at this point.  I also heard that saliva isn’t sperm friendly, so we don’t usually do that during peak fertile times.

We continued all of our regular activities in the bedroom, and we concieved first month (BD every day for 8 days during hurriane sandy–one of those days was a double hitter—all included what you’ve asked about here).
