I can’t believe 9 months after coming off of depo-provera, I am yet to see AF come for a visit. I was told to expect 6 months, that has come and gone, and yet still nothing.
My family doctor won’t do anything until I hit the 1 year mark, and even then I don’t know what we can do.
I have watched co-workers, friends, and my SIL all get pregnant, and the first babies since I started my TTC journey are now coming close to their due dates, and it is supposed to be MY TURN, but nothing, and I don’t even believe that I will get pregnant any time soon.
Most of the time I am fine, and I am lucky to be surrounded by supportive friends and family (My Mom is a hypnotherapist, and even wants to do fertility hypnotherapy on me LOL). I have 6 co-workers who have needed to use fertility treatment to get pregnant, so I have people IRL to turn to for support, but I don’t really want anyone to know that I am sitting around having pity parties all by myself.
I am scared to get onto the fertility treatment bandwagon, it seems so overwhelming, but I am more scared that I won’t be a mom anytime soon.
I don’t really have a point to this post, I just needed to get my thoughts out, and I am trying so hard to keep this positive for Darling Husband.

@Ms Mini: first off, I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this.
Secondly, the one year mark is VERY typical unless you have a diagnosed problem. OR, like in my case, haven’t had ANY problems getting pregnant prior. (I’m supposed to go back in June if no luck, but plan on putting it off till AFTER the wedding/honeymoon if no luck by May.)
I’d suggest visiting an ob-gyn about the no AF problem, though. There COULD be an underlying problem like PCOS. Family doctors, unfortunately, aren’t as knowledgable as a specialist (aka ob-gyn).
good luck and sorry you’re going through this!!!!

@Zinzerena: Thanks for the reply. As far as going to see an OB-GYN, here in Canada you need a referral to see one, so I would still need to go to my family doctor, and as great as he is, he isn’t willing to move forward in any way, shape of form until the one year mark (maybe a month or so before – so I am going to see him in June, rather than wait until July). I just have to be patient, I know, but it is SO HARD!

@Ms Mini: I’m so sorry you have had to wait so long and still may need to wait longer. Can you not take medicine to jump start your period? I don’t know much about it, but I’ve seen others mention doing that. I’m sorry you have to wait. It must be so frustrating!!!

@Ms Mini: One year with still no AF? It seems like they should see you sooner than that. How frustrating! I’m sorry.

@JaneyD: Thanks! It is really frustrating, my family doctor figures that it is just the depo-provera causing it and everything will just happen on its own, which really bugs me. I just hope that once we get moving along in June/July things happen quickly.

Sweets, I don’t have much to offer except this: you get to have pity parties if that’s how you’re feeling and that’s what you need, okay? It’s all scary, I’m sure, both getting on the intervention train and not… and you totally get to be and feel however you feel. Don’t feel bad!
And good luck!

@Ms Mini: whoops! Didn’t realize you were in Canada! What about another family doctor? Even just calling another office and asking might be beneficial. If they all say the same thing, well, poo. BUT maybe another office will have a different opinion? (I know here in the US, they typically do! lol!)

I am so sorry. I know you said you needed a referal since you are on Canada. When I lived abroad it was similar BUT- if I paid out of pocket I could go see whoemever whenever. Maybe call some gyns and see what the appt would cost? My gyn told me that he was going to put me on medicine to jump start my period if it took longer than 6 months after going on BC. 9It took 3 and my cycles are still over 50 days so I understand the frustration) Honestly your family doctor is doing you a major disservice and you need to be your biggest advocate. Good luck!

Feel free to have your pitty party. It’s totally understandable.

I’m sorry… that sounds beyond frustrating. Go ahead and pity party… everyone needs one now and then.
