I’ve been debating for a while whether or not to post this… but if it helps just one bee I think I will be glad I did…
If you are trying to conceive and your Husband is taking or prescribed Testosterone you will NOT get pregnant! Testosterone supplements, whether gel or injection, act the same way in a mans body as birth control pills do in a womans body. In fact there are may research studies looking into it as a male form of BC. Testosterone supplements trick the mans body into thinking that it has plenty, and thereby stops the body from producing it itself which stops sperm production. It takes a few months for sperm production to return to normal levels after stoping testosterone, and if the use was prolonged (think years) you may need more assistance.
If your Darling Husband is taking it or has taken it I would recommend talking to your doctor about getting a Semen Analysis, even if you have not been trying for a year +
My poor hubby was prescribed Testosterone a few months after we started TTC… he told his doctor that we were trying – so why did the doctor give him male BC???? Well, a lot of doctors just dont know that testosterone has actually been discredited as helpful in the TTC process… I read an article on WebMD that stated injections were actually more helpful than gels if you are TTC — A lot of bad information exists out there! Be careful! And find a doctor who keeps up with current medical knowledge…
Because of our little snafu Darling Husband and I spent 13 cycles TTC… it was a very frustrating year + to say the least and i hope that no one else suffers unnecessarily like we did.
Good luck and lots of baby dust to you all!
