Hey everyone! As you can all tell I’m new to the Weddingbee Board!
My hubby and I are TTC and this is our first time trying, I’m just wondering how soon I can take a pregnancy test!? I’m just so anxious and excited that we are TTC. This may be Too Much Information but we did have sex throughout the entire time I’ve been ovulating and keeping track of it, I know there is no guarantee even if I did it every day 365 days of the year. But I’m just curious how soon I can take a test? I’ve googled and well google doesn’t help me, so any ladies with experience, please help a girl out!

@everythingiswonderful: It is recommended to take a test once AF is due or simply late, but most ladies here cannot wait until then (I used to be one of them heehee) and test as soon as 7-8DPO. It really depends on you. Either way GL and I hope you get your BFP soon! You can always join the POAS Thread. We cheer eveyone on and many ladies there have great advices 🙂

Personally, I don’t plan to test until 12 days past ovulation as I feel like that is the earliest date to test where the chances are likely that you will get a positive over a negative. The earliest you can get a positive is 8 days past ovulation but not that many people do get a positive on that day. Fertility Friend has a calculator with percentages on it that is helpful to look at and I believe the link is under the thread “What to Expect- TTC”. Hope this helps.

I have to agree with @MrsR4ever: about waiting until AF is late. You can go ahead and test but if you don’t get your BFP within these next few cycles you will start to get super sick of seeing BFNs. It’s easier to just wait.
Either way, good luck! Here’s to hoping you don’t have to keep trying!

Since you’re new to the TTC process, I just want to let you know that:
“AF” is short for “Aunt Flow” or “your period”
DPO is short for “Days Post Ovulation” meaning the number of days since you ovulated.
POAS is Pee on a stick or “take a pregnancy test”
BFP is short for “Big Fat Positive” or a positive pregnancy test 🙂 (BFN is a Big Fat Negative)

Thanks for all your quick responses! =)

It’s hard to wait to test. I tested at 10DPO and got the faintest line, then a real BFP on 11DPO. 13DPO seems to be a magic number around here. Good luck!

It all depends on how long you can hold out! I tried to hold out until 10 dpo but couldn’t. I tested at 9 dpo and got a very obvious BFP. Im sure if I had tested at 8 dpo I would have gotten a faint positive! Everyone is different.
