Hi ladies! Due to a change in circumstances, my husband and I have decided to TTC sooner rather than later. I’ll be seeing a doctor about this but we’re just about to move so I’d rather wait to speak with a doctor until we’re in our new location.
My whole life I’ve had very irregular periods, and so far doctors have attributed my level of fitness to the irregularity. I was previously on BCP and had a regular cycle, but when I stopped BCP (3-4 years ago) my cycle kind of stopped too. I now get my period maybe 3-5 times a year.
Has anyone had experience (success or failure) TTC with a highly irregular cycle? I’ve ordered ovulation test strips to see whether I’m actually ovulating, but any kind of insight would be helpful.

achilles: Highly irregular periods here. Once went 4 months without a period. Went to gyno and got PCOS diagnosis. Great. PCOS also means OPK results will not be reliable either.
Miscarried my first pregnancy at 8 weeks or so. One full year of NTNP prior to that. Currently at the 8-week juncture again with second pregnancy. This was after another full 12 months of trying. I can’t say in terms of how many cycles trying since I’ve no idea how many cycles I have in a year.
My mom is a success story of successful TTC with highly irregular periods. She didn’t even know she was pregnant with me until she was more than 4 months along, because her cycles were that off.

Be sure to be checked for pcos. I have it, highly irregular cycles, no natural ovulation even though opks will show o’ing because women with pcos have higher LH levels then ones without.
