YES. This is me. I’ve been unmotivated for a while now. It’s harder when work colleagues are getting pregnant around me, but I’m still here. Doing IVF and trying to work at the same time is proving to be a challenge – but I can’t afford NOT to work BECAUSE of IVF. It’s a vicious cycle.

Before I got pregnant, I had the motivation to do a good job so we’d have lots of $$$ to spend on the little one.

Once I actually got pregnant though, I won’t lie, I was quite distracted. I just wanted to read about what was going on inside of me. I knew in x amount of months I’d be off work on mat-leave. Then I started getting a lot of pain which was also very distracting (and eventually led me to leaving work 3 months earlier than planned).

I just had to keep reminding myself how much the $$$ I was making ws going to help with our little bundle!

I can relate 100%. It’s been a lot worse this cycle with starting clomid because I feel like I’m one step closer. It’s so hard to focus on work, because; (1. I’m always on here, gotta keep up with my ladies. (2. I’m googling different ttc related articles, medicines, symptoms, etc. I also agree with @urchin: once I finally do become pregnant, I know I will definitely not get any work done at that point. Guess I better get all the work done now.

I’d definitely say I’m distracted. We just started this week (!!) and I can’t stop looking at baby sites (this one included)…it’s awful! It would help if work were busy, but right now is our slow season and there is absolutely no work to be had. I need distractions!! Thinking about getting pregant all the time is driving me bonkers :p I really feel for you girls who have been trying for months or years; I don’t know how you possibly focus!

Yeah, I’m half afraid all the IT guys know I’m TTC by the name of the website ( here mainly) I visit.

@Mrsluckywife:  I can definitely relate and I feel for you.  We’re on Cycle #15 (13 months of TTC) and like you, I never, ever thought it would take this long…we had hoped to have a baby by our first anniversary, but that day has come and gone and we aren’t even pg yet.  I’ve tried to let go of my plans, and just hope and pray that we will be blessed with a baby in the future.

I also try to look at the positive side of the situation (not that it always makes me feel better though!) I try to remind myself how nice it will be to have all this extra money saved up from me still working.

Sometimes it helps to distract yourself with things other than TTC and focus on your DH and the fun things you can do now without a baby (not that it takes the longing away, but it can be a good distraction). Some things that I love are: movie marathons and cuddling on the couch with DH, long sleep-ins on a Saturday morning, dinner dates, traveling, and the occasional splurge on stuff we probably couldn’t afford with a baby.

A good friend of mine posted a wise status on facebook regarding deployment that an older Navy wife shared with her, “Don’t wish away the days. Try to enjoy each day; you can’t them back. Because before you know it, you’ll have wished away a good part of your life.”  The same lesson applies to us with TTC and it has helped me get through more than one day.

I always find this is an awesome thread to browse through when on a down day.  http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/ttc-inspiration-graphic-pick-me-upthread

I also found this other thread from a year ago  http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/ttc-some-days-are-harder-than-others and it’s SO comforting because I think at least 90% of the ladies on this thread have already had babies or are currently pregnant.  It will happen for us too! 🙂

TOTALLY relate to this one.  I feel completely distracted at work — always on this site, looking up other websites, reading articles, mind on TTC instead of work.

My tips / things that help me feel better:

1) I’m trying not to be too hard on myself right now.  We just found out about our MF infertility 2 weeks ago, so I figure it’s okay to take some time for myself and to “freak out” about things before diving back into work.  I figure I need to be kind to myself and forgiving of myself.

2) On the plus side, having the stress of TTC/infertility makes my work stress seem much sillier…it helps me put things in perspective and not freak out about work so much.  I was much more stressed out about work before and now it seems less important in the grand scheme of things.
