I was told by my OB to take a pepcid if I get heartburn and this was just last week (23 weeks) so I venture to say you should be okay.

Here is an informative article discussing “stomach” medications during pregnancy.

I woud definitely advise that you speak to your doctor (or pharmacist).  For example, some drugs may affect organ development, so they may not be advised in the first trimester, but may be ok later.  Additionally, there are some classes of medicaiton where there is more information on one drug and therefore it is recommended over the others.  When you talk to your doctor, you may want to get a list of “approved” OTC medications for common conditions in pregnancy.  Hope you feel better soon!

Speak with your doctor or a pharmacist. They can tell you which medications are safe to take during pregnancy.

My doctor said she was fine with me taking Pepcid, and I’ve had to a few times because I’ve been way too unbearably uncomfortable.

@heathaah: Pepsid is listed as one of the medications on my list of medications that are safe during pregnancy from my OB-GYN’s office. They also list Maalox, Tums, Mylanta, and Zantac for heartburn. If you still want to double check it wouldn’t hurt to call your doctors office.
