We are having a Halloween inspired reception and planned on having a candy buffet. But, as we were discussing centerpiece ideas, my Fiance (he’s been so helpful!) suggested that maybe, instead of a buffet, we should have bowls of candy as the centerpieces. Then, we can give guests bags and have them “trick or treat” for the candy (with different types of candy at each table). This idea could get the guests mingling and obviously fits in with our theme.
How does this idea sound? I think it will be fun (though I still like the buffet idea too!)
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

I think it sounds likea lot of fun and would be really cute. Also saves on having to figure out centerpieces 🙂

That’s an awesome idea! Double efficient

I like the idea but I doubt that all the guests will feel comfortable going around to tables and taking candy off the tables when other people are sitting there. I know I would feel a bit awkward walking to other tables and trying to make small talk when all I really wanted was to take some candy from their centerpiece.

Honestly I think it’s neat but if I was the guest I wouldn’t walk around to other tables to get candy it’s too awkward. I would rather trick or treat at the buffet table. You could use a Halloween theme treat bag to make it more Halloween like or put the treat bag on everyone’s place setting asking them to trick or treat at the candy bar. Good luck Halloween weddings are awesome!

Thanks so much everyone! I do like the idea that the candy and centerpieces would both be taken care of!
@amariem25 and @babydollgirl ….Ooh, I didn’t think about it being awkward (I don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable!). It is not a huge wedding (~80) so many guests know each other, but I can see that it could be awkward depending on the person. Maybe we’ll do a hybrid and still have candy centerpeices but also have a few dishes on the dessert table (but not a full candy bar). so, there would be some “neutral” places for candy. Maybe even have a bigger candy bowl at the head table (since everyone will know my Fiance and I!) Thanks so much for the input! Either way, the guests will get plenty of candy, that’s for sure!
