We went looking at tuxes yesterday and I am having some problems picking out the vest/tie colors….
The bridesmaid dresses are a dark midnight blue. They are the style pictured here but darker
Our other accent color is dark purple and we are having some silver accents. Should I go with a midnight blue tie/vest or a dark silver/grey? Will it look like a circus if I have the girls in blue, and the guys in silver? Also, the guy’s boutineers are a dark purple calla lilly. Here are pictures of the vest/tie options. Grey vest with black/grey striped tie Midnight vest and tie What do you think???

I would have a silver vest and blue tie.

go with what your Fiance looks best in.

I like the silver vest and striped tie. It coordinates without being too matchy..
I am currently having the same problem!

My policy on tuxes is always to have the vest and tie/bowtie match the color of the actual tux. I’m assuming yours is black so I would go for the black accessories. I think when people venture into the colored ties and vests it starts to look very 1990s prom and too matchy matchy for my taste. A black vest and tie is always in style and always sophisticated.

I agree, silver vest and blue tie. I don’t really like matching vests to the color of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. But that’s just my opinion 🙂

Do you think the stripe tie will be too busy with the crystals in the bridesmaids’ dresses?

I like one solid piece and one with design…anything else is too busy looking for my tastes. Also, keep in mind they’ll most likely also have bouts on as well

The tuxes are going to go with the dresses no matter what you choose. They don’t have to coordinate or match. The Bridesmaid or Best Man and Groomsmen are not matched sets to surround the Bride and Groom…
Choose whichever looks most classic and don’t worry about the color.
When we got married, we went to Mens Warehouse and selected a really nice tux for my husband. Well, they ordered the wrong size for him, and there wasn’t time to get the right size in before our ceremony, so he ended up wearing one of his suits with the vest, tie and shoes from the tux. No one who sees the pictures even suspects he’s not wearing a tux.
