That one place that matches David’s Bridal colors says at least 14 days before the wedding, otherwise there is a rush fee. However, I think it’s usually recommended to do it like 2-4 months before the wedding.

There is some slight seasonal variation – for wedidngs around prom time you have to book a little earlier since tuxes get booked up for prom.  We just reserved ours for August but only because we had a discount from a bridal show that was going to expire – I think the shops were quoting a much shorter timeframe.  Also though, we went with a very large national chain, and the timeframe might be different for stores with different types of operations.

I think 6 to 8 weeks is the norm, but I made sure ours were reserved over a year ago. I wanted to lock in the prices and make sure everyone had enough time to save up to pay for them. If you reserve them early, the guys can start paying for them now, and then just go in for the fittings 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding.

We went to Men’s Wearhouse last week. Our wedding is in August and they said we should reserve our tuxes before the end of this month because our wedding is a peak wedding time and we have popular colors. The earlier you can reserve them, the better. That way you don’t have to worry about changing the style of tux last minute or worry about not being able to get the right size/color combination.
