We are having a Friday night wedding in August, the ceremony will be outside at 6:30pm immediately followed by the cocktail hour at 7:00pm, which will be outside as well under a tent. The reception will be at 8:00pm, our venue is at a golf course. The question is Fiance and I want the men in charcoal grey tuxes with lavender ties, as the BMs will be in darker purple dresses, however since we are having an evening wedding technically should the men be in black tuxedos? Does it make a difference?

@BenjLu29: it doesn’t make a difference

I am partial to gray suits for summer weddings but black always looks super sleek. If your Fiance wants to wear gray, than I’d say that’s the way you should go!

It doesn’t matter, do what you want!

If you’re having a “black tie affair” than I say black. But these days, gray seems to be more common than black! I happen to love gray on guys. . . my guys will be wearing charcoal gray, as well!

I think either would look great! Black always looks sharp but I agree with the above poster, I love grey for summer weddings! Both will look good with dark purple so pick what you like!
