Would they otherwise be in the same clothing? (same style suit/tux, same shirt, etc.)

I’m having trouble picturing it…Is it an option for your guys to have colored ties and your groom to be in a black tie?

I went to a wedding where they did this and it looked fine.

I am having trouble visualizing it.  I don’t think I like the idea though…..

I agree with Gemstone that if the groomsmen were in a colored tie and your SO was in a black bowtie, it wouldn’t irk me.

I wouldn’t do it, but I like more continuity. What about having the guys wear bow ties that match the color of the girls dresses?

Men’s Wearhouse has this fantastic online tool that lets you “build you own tux” so that you can see what all the different options look like.  i woul open up a few tabs in your browser and make a different tux in each one and see what you think or how they go together.  But, I do not think a blak bow tie would look strange.  Good luck!

I think it should be fine. I went to a wedding where the groom wore a blue bow tie and the best men wore regular long ties in the same color. It made the groom stand out. i generall dont like bow ties that much but it really worked in this wedding
Also you should totally try out the DRESS YOUR WEDDING feature on davids bridal that allows you to pick different looks for your groomsmen as well as your bridesmaids and then you can see them all standing together. Its awesome really.
