I was wondering if you had any tips regarding tuxedo rentals. Do people just choose the tux rental place based on what they have available? (That is what it seems like from the weddingbee posts).
How far in advance should you rent them?
What is the average price for a tux rental?
And for you so-cal brides, if you have found a particular vendor that is excellent, I would love to hear about them. I would like someone in the Cerritos area – Cerritos/Downey/Bellflower/Lakewood/Artesia ish.

after lots of back and forth with this we decided to go with men’s wearhouse…this was primarily b/c the groomsmen and ushers are spread out throughout the country and they needed access to a chain…
my FH found a style he really liked online but when we got there they said they only carried that style on the east coast…it kind of killed things but we ended up finding something else while we were there…so yes, we picked based on what they had and accessiblity…we could have kept looking but neither of us felt like we had the time or energy, plus the accesibility for everyone was a huge factor…
either way, b/c we ordered tuxes for the groomsmen (4), ushers (2) and my father the groom’s tux was free…most places do this though if you order a certain number of tuxes…
i think it ended up being about $130 or so each b/c we got some kind of group discount…this didn’t include shoes but it included a tux, vest, shirt, and tie..i’m not sure of the quality but i mean its a trusted brand/store so you can’t really go wrong with that…also, if you have to deal with distance issues its a good bet b/c of accessibility and b/c they have an online system so the groom can track who’s ordered their tuxes and who’s slacking…oh and the tuxes are due back the next day but you can return them to any mens wearhouse location which was big for us…that may be standard stuff but it all factored into our decision…
i’m not sure of the quality yet b/c our wedding isn’t until august…but a friend just got married and her husband and groomsmen wore the same style that we ordered and it looked great…i would have to say that that’s the only downside to ordering from a big chain, you’ll start to notice the same tuxes in other wedding photos..but i mean no one else will notice or care and at the end of the day that doesn’t really matter much but it is something to think about…
i can’t find the exact address of the one we went to b/c their site is down but its near Paco’s Tacos which is off of S. Centinela…hope this helps…
oh yeah and we rented ours a little less than 3 months in advance…

Men’s Wearhouse as well because of the nationwide locations. Friar Tux is another chain but they are only in California. Prices are $95-$160 per tux (the lower priced ones are perfectly decent); cheaper with the group discount. I would reserve a couple of months out and start bugging groomsmen about getting measured right away.
