My fiancee and I are planning on having a September wedding – outdoor ceremony at 4pm at a golf course, with reception at 6pm in the golf course’s indoor clubhouse. He picked out a navy blue tux with black lapel which I actually love, but am wondering if that is too formal for an outdoor ceremony on the grass. Please advise, thanks for your input!!

If you’re going with correct etiquette, tuxedos should not be worn before 6pm. In my opinion, way too formal for an afternoon outdoor ceremony.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a tuxedo in navy!
I think is fine, if your dress code is formal or black tie xo

If he likes it and you like it, go for it! We are having an outdoor ceremony at 5pm and my Fiance is wearing a black tuxedo. Etiquette be damned, it’s what he’s always dreamed of wearing at his wedding and he will look super handsome, like James Bond haha!
