That sounds horrible! I’m sorry to hear that you have to go through that.

My favorite series right now are Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Community, Bones, the Mentalist, White Collar, Psych, and the Good Wife. I enjoy lots of older series, too, like Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls.

I’m currently watching The Shield.  Other shows I’ve enjoyed are Deadwood, Dead Like Me, Mad Men, Entourage, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Damages, Breaking Bad…

I enjoy watching Law and Order: SVU when I’m at home needing to find something to watch.  Plus there are a ton of seasons and a ton of episodes within each season.

I’m so sorry to hear about your pain! Here are some of my favorite TV shows off the top of my head:

Dr Who, Firefly (then Serenity, the follow-up movie), Bones, Castle, NCIS, Alias, The X-Files, The Office (British and American), The Ricky Gervais Show (the TV show is just an animated version of the podcasts), An Idiot Abroad, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Magnum PI, Only Fools and Horses, Keeping Up Appearances, ‘Allo ‘Allo, Dad’s Army, Father Ted, Freaks and Geeks, Six Feet Under, the Planet Earth and Blue Planet series (and anything with David Attenborough)

I definitely agree about Big Bang Theory and Gilmore Girls. GG is my all time favorite :)’

Arrested Development is a lot of fun as well. And Dr. Who is awesome!

As for movies, I love all of Katherine Hepburns movies. Maybe you can work your way through like the AFI top lists–top comedy, top drama, top over-all. Those definitely have some amazing movies on them and they’re easy to find since the’ve won awards like that.
